:Chef: Hey guys I am just getting back into everything hardcore and I need to get my diet right. I am a personal trainer at BSC and need to get a diet that allows me to take in 160 grams of protein a day easily. Also wondering what supplements are worth taking. STATS: 155lbs 7.5% b.f. 5'9''. I have some nice muscle but it is almost impossible for me to gain weight. My gaol is 30 lbs but I need to get my diet down before I start supplementing a lot* I know that I am trying to gain muscle and not fat and it is impossible for me to get Thick, Bulky or anything close. I either gain muscle or nothing. If I get any fat at all it is a slight almost nothing layer on my abs and sometimes a tiny bit on my chin. Gotta do this right once and for all. let me know what you think. And those of you who think common ways of gaining weight work for me, they dont. I will just visit the bathroom more... catch my drift? Thanks guys, kurt

There's no such thing as hard gainers, just men who don't eat enough. Check out the Bruce eating log or the No More Medium T log in the weight training forum.

I agree with kabeetz. If you are at 7.5% bodyfat that is probably your problem - you can't really be bulking for muscle mass and need to eat more. Your goal should be to get stronger at compound lifts while slowly getting fatter. If that is the case, then you are in a caloric excess. If not, you aren't eating enough.

I find ANPB, steak (and other read meats), milk, breads, etc. are the types of foods that help me get my calories up. Chicken, tuna, rolled oats, etc. are the types of foods that help me keep my calories down while feeling full.

:chomp: No, there are such things as hard gainers wehre one guy can eat a moderately large amount of food and gain weight and a guy that can eat all day long as much as he can stuff into himself and not gain weight. The metabolism is crazy! I am also lactose intolerant. Makes me eat healthier but limits protein sources. What do you guys think?
