Seriously, gave it months to grow on me but it just cannot even compare to the xbox 360.

Terrible controller'

Good games are way to far and few in between.

Downloads are ungodly slow(with a 10mb/sec internet connection)the xbox downloads stuff in a quarter of the time.

The PSN network is fucking terrible with a wide spread "credit card information in invalid" error that Sony refuses to even acknowledge.

Had some hope for the PS "Move", but it had to be constantly calibrated, I mean during games, constantly.

I will miss the blu ray, but thats about it.

If you're being for real (which sounds kinda doubtful from your tone) then damn that sounds like some shit luck.

Controller is personal preference. I myself can put up with analog sticks close together quite a bit more than the 360's near-worthless dpad.

I had a CC invalid issue before too that a simple phone call cleared up; turns out it was simply picky about addresses.

The games, well, Halo and Gears are the only exclusives worth a damn that Xbox has left. I still wanna play through Gears 2 and upcoming 3, but considering the online was horrible on the last one probably not worth getting a system for.

If PSN network was so terrible, I doubt Valve, a diehard PC developer, would give Xbox the finger and put Steam on PS3 instead either.

I have no experience with Move, but yeah I've read about calibrating problems a few people are having, which will definitely have to be fixed if they wanna keep selling those things. I myself think all motion controls are still gimmicky as hell. Blame Wii lol.

The funny thing is, Blu-ray movies are probably the least I use my PS3 for, but it's still cool its there.

Anyways, are you gonna get Kinect?

They have an updated xbox controller that does some thing to the d-pad...improves it somehow. I myself never had a problem with it, but I don't remember ever having to really use it for any game.

more than likely no on the Kinect...maybe if i have extra cash just to blow, but it looks way too casual, and for me a FPS player, seems useless.

I like PS3 over xbox360 personally. xbox sends more on Advertizing ps3 puts into the games more it seems.
ether or is good but id pick p3s

I do prefer the xbox controller, as much as I can for being a die hard PC fan. I can never get over not being able to twitch (mostly for shooters, obviously).

I just bought fable 3 and beat it in like 2 days. Was disappointed. Too much build up for such a short game.

ALL the fable games have gotten shit for being way too build up and too much promised but not delivered in the finished game.

Been back playing my xbox 360 again for the past few days since trading in the PS3....simply no contest.

The only people who prefer the PS3 almost always only have it as their sole gaming system so naturally they want to defend blowing so much money.

those that have multiple systems always prefer the xbox.

And the only reason Valve wants to go with the PS3 and put steam on it is because M$ wants more revenue from it.

Stupid and greedy on M$'s part, but it wasn't because Valve thought the PS3 was a better machine by any means. that's. why they dogged it in the beginning.

And the PS+ is a terrible flop with the VAST majority of peeps that are pissed about the content and will not be renewing their subscriptions.

You seem pretty subjective towards PS3 vs. Xbox 360 lol.
PS3 isn't expensive anymore compared to a 360. Even if it was still at $600, by the end of this console generation it'd still end up being cheaper than a launch-priced 360 to measure up ($50/yr for LIVE, $100 WIFI add-on, $100 HDD upgrade for cheaper Arcade model, conversion kit/whole new system needed for HDMI output, battery charger for controller vs a simple USB plug, still no Blu-ray). Microsoft's clever marketing tactics trick a lot of people.

Which is why I think the main reason Xbox 360 still does so well is through heavy marketing (look at the new Black Ops commercial for instance with Kobe, Kimmel, etc..."Play it on Xbox 360". Then there was the Kinect appearance on Oprah and her subsequent "blessing", Times Square launch party... not even Apple markets like that lol.

I know a lot of PC gamers on the Gametrailers forums prefer a PS3 over a 360.

So actually your theory of a sole system could very well apply to Xbox 360 owners as well.

Here's another poll I found about console preference -

I also read about PC gamers saying they can't stand LIVE simply because of all the idiot kids that populate the servers spewing insults left and right. PSN by contrast seems a little more mature even in their eyes.

You're partially right about Valve; they did hate the PS3 because of its un-PC like architecture, but they could've also easily just continued to ignore it altogether regardless of what Microsoft did with their XBL network. Instead they do a complete 180 on their original stance with a public apology to the PS3 fanbase at E3 no less. It can't be all that bad if they're willing to do that.

In any case it still boils down to personal preference. Maybe if I didn't have a gaming PC I'd be more interested in a 360 but when you understand how much of a ripoff it can be it kinda seems pointless...unless it's like you said, the only system you own. Then I can see how it could be considered a good value.

PSN+ is also just starting out; hasn't found its balance yet but when it does it'll be more worthwhile.

I am not a big gamer ( I have a life)
For a casual gamer like myself all the games are garbage on ps3. The blue ray player is great though, without that I would be pissed.
The new motion controller is GRABAGE. WTF were they thinking. It doesn't even work.

Yeah that's what some people are saying lol, but others seem to be having no problem.

MaxConsole - Playstation Move experiences calibration problems?

My Experience With The PlayStation Move ← Platform Nation

Most likely a firmware update will fix the calibration issues some people are having.

I was surprised that it didn't work worth a fuck.

Bought Kinect for the fuck of it...kinda cool tech...will be nothing more than a casual experience though.

Bro I've been playing xb live since 2002...was a beta tester, I have com across only a handful of annoying peeps. Where in the few months I played PS3 online, I have had a terrible experience with screamers, severe mic background noise and god aweful team killers.

Valve gave a public apology because they know pc gaming is dying, has been for awhile now. and they know with consoles there is almost zero chance of pirating.

lol I highly doubt that's an objective response but that's cool. Every 360 comes with a headset, more juvenile kids buy 360s due to higher marketing exposure, and overall it's a more popular network amoung young gamers at least stateside...not say there aren't any on PSN by any means, but just that there's likely to be a lot more on XBL, especially considering the types of games that are most popular on it.

Valve isn't really concerned with piracy either-

(3:30 mark)

Bad PC sales are usually the result of bad console ports of games. Good PC games that are made for PC usually sell well, and often have higher profit margins due to no marketing/royalty overhead. Hell even Crysis has sold 2 million and barely anyone could run it. That wasn't good enough for Crytek apparently, or probably their ego either lol.

There are over 30 million members on Steam, even games sold at other digital retailers now usually need a Steam client to install. Valve probably doesn't need consoles at all to do well, but they probably figure hell if we can, why not.
And plenty of people pirate 360 games, hell every major release has had torrents up at least a week before launch date. They'll just get the ban hammer eventually if they go online.

PS3 has been hacked a couple times but all it takes is a firmware update to remedy that. And who'd want to wait around downloading a 30-40 gig Blu-ray anyways.

I rented Black Ops, gonna probably record some footage this weekend and try it out online, if I can even get on the network that is ;)

Lartinos, yeah I'm actually planning out a website to work on this winter that will deal with gaming, but probably movies too.

So do you have a xb360 or no?

lol, this thread is like open invitation for the xbox fanboys to come out.

ps3 has proven to be the better system.

i'm gonna get an xbox soon because i really want kinect, but the fact is 90% of titles are multi plat and always run better on ps3.

If you match up system exclusives...ps3 has the advantage.

i LOVE gears of war, but aside from that you have what...fable and alan wake? Mass effect 2 is coming out on ps3 so that's not even exclusive anyore.

at least with ps3 you have metal gear solid 4, uncharted 2, demon's souls, god of war 3 and heavy rain.

The kinect is reason to get one though. i think that shit is awesome. gonna wait till after christmas probably

Why not just get them all? Each one is good for something. My Wii makes a great paperweight.

you're nuts....there is no way PS3 the better system.

terrible controller
only a handful of good games if that.
online is garbage.

PS3 peeps like to say that games run/look better on the PS3....i'm not seeing it at all.

And Kinect is fun...but for now it only has very casual games out.

I had all 3 systems.

the wii is fucking lame and for children.

The Ps3 I had for several months and gave it a fair shot. no contest.

There will be a really big announcement for Gears 3 on Spike's VGA awards next Saturday. Some are saying it'll be that it's coming to PS3. I don't really know what other news about that game could be really big to be honest. Could very well be part of the reason the game got delayed til next spring.

TC2, post a 360 game with effects better than these-

or that look better in general than this-

http://www.gametrailers.com/video/review-hd-uncharted-2/57258

http://www.gametrailers.com/video/review-hd-god-of-war/62753

(skip to the last 3 minutes or so for visual comments; that site routinely rates 360 exclusives higher overall btw, so no PS3 bias there).

?

Microsoft should ditch the 360 and focus on building up PC gaming. With a more unified structure plus the massive install base they'd make more money than all three consoles combined, if that's their main concern (which it seems to be at least for Xbox).
