I'm getting bored of Rammstein...that's all I listen to in the gym to get my lifting heavy ass weights

I need some ideas for hardcore lifting songs and songs to get you pumped and give you energy

Please post youtube links to your favorites so I can make a new album for this weeks gym sessions....

Anything old school metal for me... I don't want to fall asleep on the bench to some of the Asian pop music that they play at the public gyms around here!

There is some very bad ass heavy/hard music out there that is far from mainstream. These tracks are some of my favorites for the gym. They might be a little too much for you though traz :evil:

HAHA. I know, I'm like wow, take a chill pill and relax. Talk about neverending personal issues. I have a cousin who plays heavy metal and I couldn't really get into it. Seems like he is always angry at something or someone. People like what they like.

rock and metal are fine...some of it sounds really good

but when there are no lyrics just devil worshiping screaming your lungs out not making any sense and they call it music then it's retarded

Holy musical ignorance batman!

More musicianship in death metal than virtually any other style of music save for possibly jazz, flamenco and classical.

Marilyn Manson is a hack, and save for John 5 his band are a bunch of hacks creating pop music.

i appreciate death metal, but it has it's muscial limits.
pretty shallow music, even shallower hardcore fan groupies
who live out there weird blood/death/sci fi fantasies via the music.
like i said i can appreciate it, but lol that it has more musicanship than other music genres..."pussy fart" and "i cum blood" won't be going down in the annals of great music anytime soon, sorry stan :(

Lyrics have nothing to do with musicianship nor is a lyricist/poet a musician.

Death metal is by far, more musically intricate and complex than 90% of all other forms of music.

Cannibal Corpse's lyrics are pretty laughable, but that's their small niche.

Here is a good description of the topics of death metal lyrics if one needs to associate lyrical content with the quality of music.

Abuse of power, addiction, anarchy, anger, apathy, cannibalism, darkness, death, depression, fantasy, gore, hate, humor, insanity, anti-christianity, life and death, masochism, misanthropy, murder, mysticism, mythology, nihilism, politics, psychosis, serial killers, sexual perversions, social alienation, social commentary, satanism, society, suicide, occultism, torture and war are all themes that are explored in Death Metal lyrics. Remember that part of what makes Death Metal unique is that NOTHING is off-limits in terms of song lyrics. And don't be afraid to talk about more than one thing in your lyrics. For example, a song can flow between furrydom and Tolkien in a complex thematic interplay.

Classical rock and old school pink floyd, metallica, guns and roses, nirvana, led zeplin and a shitload of other bands who kick ur faget assed marilyn manson "beautiful people" and "fight music" music...please...the man broke two of his own ribs to suck his own weiner and let's not forget sacrificing chickens on stage...you call this crap music?

lol at thinking death metal is more complex than classical or opera or anything like that....orchestrated prof. music, i.e. violen / saxophone, trombone will make death metal look like something a baby would scribble on a piece of water

otherwise i'd bring to the argument the fact that you're fat and ugly and you're self confidence is too low to post pictures of yourself...at least i'm always posting pictures of myself, including face pictures, and i have an active social life beyond the forums...and im involved in sports, you're making fun of me why?? cause i do sports? this is a fitness forums you know, oh i forgot, you only spend your time in chat :)

lol@not reading my previous post. I had stated that there where other forms of music which were more complex., using those exact examples.

Death metal per se doesn't have the complexity of a concerto et al...merely due to the limitations of the medium itself. 5 musicians as opposed to an entire orchestra hardly lends itself to creating something as elaborate.

Many death metal musicians themselves are classically trained and create their compositions using a very comprehensive understanding of musical theory. Many pieces are directly and indirectly influenced by classical music. Some death metal music has more in common with classical music than it ever did with rock music.

I disagree with the first part. I find music which challenges me to think as a listener to be vastly more interesting than simple music.




I do agree with you on the second part. Heck, Cannibal Corpse has a direct parody of themelves called Cannabis Corpse.

Sorry dude, metal groupie I am not. I'm a musician/teacher and listen to all music which I deem has value and meaning me. Be it metal (in all forms), rock, country (a la Albert Lee or Johnny Cash), blues, jazz, ethnic (world music to some), prog, fusion, classical etc. I merely responded to an ignorant statement about death metal, which was why I chose to set the record straight for the uninformed.

Every musical scene has it's own idiosyncracies. That's not the domain of metal alone. Why should a 'scene' matter when it comes to listening to music. It's music, if you like it, you listen to it. End of story.

I guess :confused: I just started listening to them not too long ago. I like all kinds of music. I just love music. If it sounds good to me then I listen to it. Everything except country music that is. I would rather stab my eyes out then listen to country.

i've tried a lot over the yrs, but imo death metal is largely rediculous, and some fans extreme tools.
my schtick evolves, yours stays the same,

However, constant interweb arguments (whether yours or the many others) based on calling something or someone "geigh" or "fags" or whatever e-catch phrase over and over and over 20,000 times for 10 years gets eye-stabbingly old. If I find anything maddening, it's a probably more over an increasing lack of substantive content.

Regardless, your IMOs are meaningless. Throw out some band names. DISCUSS.

I have a feeling he's talking about the standard Pantera/Slayer fan. You know the ones, they think everything starts and ends with Pantera/Slayer, unaware of any other non-nu metal band. Usually found wearing a Slipknot or Korn shirt. Super annoying at concerts, wants to touch everybody within a 10 foot radius of them as they flail their limbs about.



My next concert wont be 'til April. 25th Anniversary Overkill tour. Not going for Overkill, but rather opening acts God Dethroned and Vader. *pees self*
