The little bitty .380s might kind of snappy. A bigger 9mm might be a little easier to control. My wife has the full size version of this:

she doesn't carry it so the bigger one is fine. Has a grip safety so it won't fire unless your gripping the pistol like you're ready to fire it. She used to be deadly with it.
