Guerrilla tactics work for Iraqis

You pretend to know a lot about how the Iraqi's think. The Iraqi exiles have more credibility than you. They are saying that Sadaam changed his methods after the Gulf War because all of the surrenders and celebrations by town people when we entered their towns. This time he inserted his paramilitary into regular army units to prevent surrender. In towns with this element has been removed, they cheer for us once again. This is what is happening. They might not trust some of our interests, but they know they are free once again and no longer have to live in fear.

btw, there are at least as many Iraqi exiles who oppose this war as support it. But it is the ones who support it that are trundled in front of the media. Hate for Saddam doesn't necessarily translate into support for this war.

The Shi'ite leaders in the south are telling their people not to support the USA. This has been observed by foreign journalists and confirmed by the contacts that exiles from this region have with people at home. I am not basing my opinions simply on my own guesses.

1. Their use of human shields.
2. Executing soldiers.

All you say is "People knew that Saddam would do this. Critics of the war said this would happen. Bush and Blair constantly alluded to Saddam's callous disregard for human life, so what did they expect?"

For the record I have never been anything but contemptuous of Saddam and his tactics. I haven't come across anyone on this site who likes Saddam. We already know the man is a murderer.

Those who support the US are a different story. It is clear that there are ample numbers of people on here filled with illusions about the US, its minions, and its behaviour. It is the people like you with nationalistic fanatically pro-american attitudes who need their bubble burst.

The "nationally fanatical pro-american attitude" that you describe is called PRIDE. America is a melting pot of Europeans, Asians, Muslims, Christians, etc..... All of these nationalities are bound by FREEDOM; Free Speech, Free Market, etc... Americans will die for ideals. Evil countries fear America and just countries court us. Sure we have the most advanced weaponry in the world, but even if we did not we would still be the most feared military because of our will and courage. These qualities are lacking in countries such as France, Germany, and even, dare I say, Canada. We're on the top of the hill and no one is knocking us off.
