i heard about that earlier today, theyre just looking to make more money. i was told theyre trying to put it into effect at the end of april. imagine having to go to the doctor and getting a prescriction for a multi vitamin and paying hundreds of dollars for somethiog you can get now for ten. people are gonna be going on the forum to find a source for a multi vitamin.

I'll try to summarize it really briefly: ANY country that does not abide by the Codex Alimentarius will face trade sanctions from the World Trade Organization (WTO). The Codex Alimentarius Commission (CAC) has two committees which impact nutrition and one of them, the “Codex Committee on Nutrition and Foods for Special Dietary Uses” (CCNFSDU), is chaired by Dr. Rolf Grossklaus, a physician who believes that nutrition has no role in health. This is the “top-guy” for Codex nutritional policy, and he has stated that “nutrition is not relevant to health”.
In a nutshell Codex Alimentarius is a way for the pharmaceutical industry to stop the loss of income it suffers due to the growth of natural healthcare.

1. Sign the petition.
2. Contact your local officials.
3. Spread the word. There is a 1 page flyer you can print, give it to any vitamin, health food stores, chiropractors or naturopaths you know and use. This is one of those things that if people don't know, it could become an issue. No matter what, the world pharmaceutical industry is a LOT more powerful than vitamins/natural health.
4. Post links on the other health/bb boards you use.
The pharmaceutical industry has wanted to shut down vitamins/herbs for decades, I shit you not. They can't patent them, because they're natural and this has been a thorn in their side since forever.
Oh, did anyone notice the bit about that it would become difficult if not impossible to obtain purely organic ANYTHING anymore?
But can you imagine having to go through the same hassles to get creatine, glutamine or alpha lipoic acid as for any other uh, supplements?
While I find it difficult, if not impossible, to believe that companies like GNC and Vitamin Shoppe would simply cease to exist, I'm not going to dismiss the possibility. No country wants to be blocked from the WTO, that's the thing.

To answer your question, Canada joined the WTO the same date as the US, Jan. 1, 1995, so yes, it would affect Canada. It will affect any citizen of a country that is a member of the WTO, and those countries are listed here:
