I'm sure you have heard the term "when life gives you lemons, you make lemonade" right? I was in a similar situation back in June when I had a very bad hand injury at work lacerating it and the extensor tendon to my thumb. I was 3 weeks into a Test/Tren/Masteron cycle and it was just starting to really kick in. I had surgery to repair the tendon, was in an arm splint with no use of it, the doctor told me I had about 10 weeks of recovery ahead of me, and I spent the next week out of the gym wondering what to do.
I contemplated abandoning the cycle, but decided to stay on and just do everything I could do, instead of dwelling on what I couldn't do. I came up with an upper body and lower body split that would work well. I did pec deck, machine lateral raises, modified ab-sling weighted pull-ups and used a wrist cuff for resistance on cable curls and tricep extensions. It was all i could come up with not having to use my right hand. Lower body was pretty much unaffected for the most part, other than not doing squats since I couldn't stabilize the bar with my right hand since it was splinted.
I'm at the end of that cycle right now, and only have a couple weeks left of restriction before I can go back to my big lifts again. Since the injury I have gained 8 lbs, a ton of strength, and lowered my bodyfat by 2%. I'm very glad I didn't decide to just give up. I pushed through and did what I could.
I hope that gives you something to thnk about.
That's a great effort. I take my hat off to you, that must have been difficult. I feel that I am capable of performing in the gym, My legs will just suffer. But for everything else I can find alternative methods of building those muscles. Thinking about it I'm not really that worried about my legs, because of the sport I played they've always been tree trunks so I might as well just make the most of it and stick to my upper body.
It's just the timing of everything, this happened the day after I proposed and we hadn't even told our parents about it. So now I'll be flying back to London on crutches, dealing with work, family and friends plus beginning to plan stuff for the wedding. Only giving ourselves 10 months to do it all and you know what women are like! So being as dedicated to the gym as I usually am will be hard. I'm going to give it my best though, still going to eat properly and maybe cut the calories down slightly depending on how much I need.
Thanks for your words and sharing your experience. Fair play to you for coming through that and turning it into a positive.
