This new reality rules. Just think of all these years we've actually "stopped" at stop signs. Pfffttttt, not anymore...not for king red. This is my reality now and i get to make shit up as I go along...deal with it. I bet theres a dooshbag somewhere with some sort of fancy job title who says stop signs save lives and promote rational and smooth flowing traffic patterns in and around urban areas. Pfffftttt, what does he know? Doesn't he know who I am? Traffic will part like the dead sea when I come through.

There were also many scientists who "proved" that the Earth was flat for thousands of years, 'til that theory got debunked in 1492. I think if I recall, their "proof" was based on the theory that gravity would force everything to fly off into space on the other side of a sphere, were it in fact a sphere. And indeed that would be an accurate scientific "fact". But they failed to take into account that this particular sphere; the Earth, was in fact the center of it's own gravity. Sure there were hecklers and nay sayers, and they ate their words when Columbus showed up back in Europe from the opposite direction . In other words, there are many factors in this climate change equation unknown, and pieces yet missing that we probably don't even know to look for, and there cannot be a conclusive understanding until all of those missing pieces are in place. And another point that I failed to make in the earlier post: If there is a man-made cataclysm on the way, maybe it's needed because we're over-populated, and so many nations and people won't look at birth control due to religious and cultural issues.

I need some help / clarification. What are you basing your beliefs that man has no influence on the climate? If the majority of the researches of the day, tell me one thing, wouldn't it be safe to believe them unless I had compelling evidence otherwise?

My travels in Africa and the Philippines suggest to me that people in third world countries don't have many babies because of birth control or cultural issues. It's a survival instinct. The mortality rate is high and having lots of babies counter that.

I think it would be more helpful to understand the POV and not resort to he/she/they are stupid and I'm not.

there's no proof that pollution affects people. hence there's no proof that people can affect pollution. LOL.
I ordain myself a professional Eco-Scientists and Chemical engineer, And I say Global warming is fake.
While I'm at it, I can not see atoms, So they are fake too. BTW, I'm also a Astrophysicist too.

Almost every scientist in the western world believed in a spherical world for hundreds of years before columbus even born. Denying climate change is more like clinging to the idea that the earth is flat while all the evidence indicates a spherical world.

when all the evidence points to climate change, the rational thing to do is to act while you can. i don't know what more climate deniers are waiting for. what piece of the puzzle is missing for you? will you just never be convinced until temperatures increase some more? i hope you realize that that would be far worse for our quality of life than climate change mitigation could ever be.

Assuming for a minute, that hypothetically we have even a tiny bit of influence on climate change (and I'm not supporting that theory personally), the earth will still end some day, all of us on this forum will most probably be dead and gone in less than 100 years, and we can either live our lives and prosper while we're here, or we can waste all of our opportunities in some kind of a misguided effort to change the inevitable.

The fundamental problem with the environmental crowd today, is that it's all fake, and all driven by special interests who benefit from all these fraudulent causes supported by "global warming". The government gives out $billions in grants and never-to-be-paid loans to anyone who comes up with a good enough fairy tale about a global warming study. That's fact that can be proven too.

When I see some moderation and compromise, AND when I see an UNBIASED scientist demonstrate PROOF and not THEORY, and only then, will I even listen to the climate change doomsayers. Until then, I'm going to consider the whole thing to be a government-funded ruse. I'll live my life and use as much fuel as I want to pay for with my money, and I'm going to paint things with paint that lasts, and clean things with chemicals that really clean, and I'm going to use fertilizers that make my trees prosper, and spray pesticides which control the pests.

With that said, I also know that the other side feels as strongly as I do, so I herewith agree to disagree, and I don't need to get into a "me right-them wrong" debate. That's one of the main reasons why there are two sides opposing each other, and not a middle ground trying to get to the real truth in climate change to begin with....

If you haven't seen the proof its only because you haven't looked. The evidence is overwhelming and there is no alternate explanation for what the data shows. You'd rather listen to politically motivated liars than be smart enough to learn the facts.

But more gross than that, is the attitude that "prospering" without regard to the damage you cause to the planet, or the pain and suffering that could result for future generations, is somehow ok in your mind. that is REALLY fucked up.

The missing piece is any kind of evidence that mankind and our actions, are a drop in the bucket as compared to volcanoes, cattle farts, and other massive greenhouse gas releases which by simple arithmetic prove to be trillions of times greater in quantity than any man-made cause of greenhouse gas. To recap my belief; there is no doubt that we're on a warming cycle.... But in my mind no doubt that it will continue to follow it's natural course, regardless of what we do or don't contribute. I do not dispute that hair spray might produce a gas that could damage the ozone layer which could cause photosynthesis which could cause the earth to warm, but I also don't dispute that having a fan blowing in a house in the summer, causes air to move in a certain direction. However I would dispute that a fan in every house in every city around the world, could ever even be imagined to alter the jet stream currents in the upper atmosphere...............

Further, the change will be so gradual, that there will be plenty of time to prepare. We will stop building houses as close to the coastline where suitable, and we will continue to develop technology and new medicine to counteract whatever the change brings. If staph bacteria can "learn" to become immune to antibiotics, I'll eat my hat if we as intelligent humans can't figure out how to become immune to more rain and heat.

Quite honestly, that exact same thing could be said about those who are trying to force their viewpoint, and stifling business and progress. That's why there is a debate, and the fact that there isn't any real hard proof on EITHER side of that debate, is evidence in itself of the lack of evidence...

*I'd be embarrassed if I had a strong opinion and didn't have the courage to state it ;-) . If I make a mistake, and it is proven to me satisfactorily, I will be the first in line to own up to it. And I will in this case too, but likely that won't be in my lifetime...

You shouldn't talk about simple math since you obviously haven't looked at any math. The calculations are all done. Man's conribution to the increase in CO2, vs volcanos and natural causes etc. is well documented. "Common sense" arguments like you have been fed, are not common sense at all. The data is there. CO2 is 35% higher in the atmosphere than it was at the start of the industrial revolution. There is NO natural explanation for that, and there is no other case in history where anything similar has happened.

Your ideas for adapting are as simple minded as your denial of the causes. Its not about beach houses getting flooded. Its about dead crops, starving people, dead oceans, , Rising coastlines that could displace Billions of people from there homes; economic collapse, shortages of resources that will lead to wars and more death. Etc.

You really should read up on this subject. As Brown Brown said, there aren't 2 sides to this story as you believe.
