girlfriend needs help

Help please.

I'm an experienced weight trainer (5years on and off) and a novice AAS user (1 cycle). I have learned and still continue to learn lots about how my body reacts to different training and food. Here's my problem. My girlfriend has taken up the lifestyle with me and alot of what I've learned doesn't necessary apply anymore. So I need some help.

She's been training very hard over the past 6 months. She does 30mins of high intensity cardio, after her weight training, along with 30-45mins of weight training 4-5 days a week (pushing herself to get stronger with great form). I'm very proud of her.

She's 36, 5'4" and is around 28% BF (meas. with Calipers) and has had one child whose 18. She's coming along nicely in her upper body, still some fat around her tri's but the cuts are begining to show some. Her legs are solid and nicely toned. Her problem area is her belly. Her ass is small and tight but she having trouble getting rid of belly area. We both thought after 6 months of solid training that it would be gone. Her diet is very clean eating several meals a day incl. 1-cereal bar, 1-yogurt, 1-banana, 1-Bran Muffin, 1-egg and 1-larger meal that usually contains a healthy portion of a meat/brown Rice or Potatoes/steamed Veg.

Question:
1. Based on the info I gave you what could be causing her to hold onto her little belly. Is she eating to much? Too many Carbs/not enough Protein?
2. I'm planning on doing another cycle and she's thinking about running a small one with me to tighten up. Will Winny work for her? At what dosages? Would Anavar be better if I can get it? What would you suggest, and how best to use it, ie. dosages?

I would appreciate any help.

Thanks
H.C.

I am sure more experienced members will add more substantive information than I can but from where I sit...

She does not eat enough protein, she needs about 1-1.5 mgs of protein per pound of body weight. I would ditch the yogurt and cereal bar. Carbs should be of the complex variety, old fashioned oat meal (not the instant kind), sweet potato. Her choice of brwon rice is great.

AAS of any variety will NOT, and I repeat NOT GET HER LEAN. PERIOD. It is a muscle building tool but only when added to super clean eating and hard training. IT works differently for women than it does for men -- so whatever you know works for you -- just forget it when it comes to her.

As for having a belly -- one cannot spot reduce. As she reduces her bodyfat, she will begin to lose it. And she will indeed lose it.

I think that she should be proud of her sticking to this....six months is a great start -- but it is a start and aas should not be introduced ..... nor should it be considered a weight loss tool...it just doesnot do that. She will add muscle over bodyfat and look bigger and bulkier than she was before she started any program....she will NOT be pleased.

I defer to others. I would search for posts by FitFossil for some sound food planning. Others that have incredible determination in their quest are BrickGirl, JJFigure, Spatts, MrsPuddlesFL -- and that is just tossing out a small handful.

But I will tell you, have her come here and do her own research. What you may consider to be a slight issue may indeed spark something for her and get her to read on......it is more motivating that you know.

And I know all about a baby belly... I am 42, had my son 9 years ago (emergency c-section)......she will lose it -- it just takes a bit longer. And it took her 36 years to get her body to its current state, it is certainly going to take longer than 6 months to get it where she wants it.

Good luck...and again...I defer to the sound advice and experience of others here.....

It's more about the diet than anything. Where's the protein? She's working out intensely, doing cardio on top of lifting, and yet doesn't seem to be eating any protein? Lots of carbs in that meal plan and very little protein. She should be eating protein at every one of her six meals.

How many kcals is she eating? Is she keeping a diet log? How much water does she dring? What other liquids might she be drinking - including alcohol, non-diet sodas, etc?

What type of eating pattern does she have? It seems like she's getting the majority of her kcals at the end of the day, instead of at the beginning, like she should. If you're serious about losing bodyfat, you have to lose the "dinner must be a big meal" mentality and turn it into "breakfast must be a big meal". I eat the majority of my kcals early in the day (I train in the am) and taper off into the evening.

Most people - myself included - have to go to very rigid dieting extremes to reduce the problem areas.

In addition to all of the great words above...

She can substitute protein for the yogurt, cereal bar, bannana, and muffin. If it's convenience that she's eating like this for, she should prepare in advance things like grilled chicken breasts and lean burgers that she can just grab and eat on the go. Instead of one whole egg, she should try egg beaters or another similar product, but enough to equal like 4 eggs. If she feels like she needs to have a bannana or high carb food, that could be done within 15 minutes of when she finishes working out (like in a protein shake). I don't know why that works best...carbs within those 15 minutes...someone else could explain it. Also, most muffins are loaded with fat as well as carbs...they're evil! Fats and carbs together are bad. Limited healthy fats with protein are ok. Carbs with protein are ok. Lots of water is important, and keep the caffein down...it somehow messes with insuline levels.

AAS does NOT reduce body fat on women like it does on men. I'm nearing the end of my first and last cycle. I did better on my own. :bawling:

I'm also 36 and I train with my husband. Just keep going at it with her and researching and it will all come together. :)

I will echo the words of the others here: Her diet needs help, she has only been lifting seriously for 6 months - not long enough to consider a cycle, she is probably not eating enough instead of too much, and a cycle of any kind of AAS WILL NOT TIGHTEN HER UP. I have used one cycle last year in order to preserve what muscle I acquired from years of lifting while cutting. If the diet is in check and it looks like the training is where it needs to be, she might try Yohimburn. This stuff is great on stubborn ab fat, especially in women. As far as tightening up the abs, my experience more recently is showing that weighted abdominal exercises are far more effective than just greater quantities of exercises. Addtionally, some of the "little belly" may be loose skin from pregnancy (even from 18 years ago. I know cause I have it and my son is 18 yo).

I'll echo the same -- sometimes (especially when u watch a guy do it & get results) its really tempting to run a cycle to "lean out". But, speaking as someone who has been lifting for over 20 years (not competition level the whole time mind you), 6 months ain't nothin yet. I think the easiest place to make tweaks is the diet. Toss the muffin & stuff. You ever take a look at the contents of muffins? (FAT, SUGAR, etc). Focus on the diet for 4 weeks -- replacing the carb stuff with more protein & flax is a great fat source. If you do a search on "Spatts cutting diet" you can find a good basic diet to start with - sounds like she's half way there anyway. Keep the training schedule up and just watch the diet. I bet you see some killer results in 4 weeks' time easy.

The AS will give some results, but it if you want significant results in the way of leaning out, the diet will get u there without any hormonal upsets as well.
