Ghetto Rig Gym?

Does anyone know cheap ways to make a bench press and squat rack? I dont really care about much I just want the basics.

I couldnt find anything specific to what I need. Where is a good site to find weights? Most are kind of expensive at 50 cents a pound.

You're in the US, right? This is good. Just go to a local welder. Ask him to weld you the cage.

Then, go to that Play it Again sports store. Buy everything you need from them.

First hand, if I wanted to set up a gym at home in the US, if I bought EVERYTHING online, it would total $1500. You can get it for much cheaper by having it build for you.

Long Beach is full of CL and eBay gym equipment. Just do a search every day, and have about $350, and you'll have a good 300-lb basic Olympic set and a decent bench. Stay away from the cheap home-duty benches. You will be unhappy, as they wiggle and wobble. Better to buy a rusty gym-quality bench with bad padding, and fix it up later. I got a great $2000 Smith machine from a private gym that burned down in Malibu for $100, and spent about $25 and a day on it, and it's like new (other than the guide rods being a bit rusty, which should be replaced some day). I later got a whole 400-lb set if Ivanko plates for $90 (at least $700 new), and then I got all kinds of high-end qym equipment and machines from Compton High School when they used "free" tax money to buy all new cheap crap.

Take my word for it: you'll be happy if you're patient and wait to find really high-end stuff.

look for second hand stuff, dont by a benchpress rack and a squat rack try to get a power rack, that way you can use it for lots of differant exericses
