Getting TRT from my doc

Hi guys. Turning 38 this January and have been thinking about getting/trying to get TRT from my doc for a while.

Bit of history and info. 5,4" been lifting for 6 years. Still gaining size ok but want to make sure i'm not at the bottom of the barrel in terms of my test levels and want to make sure I'm at the high end of the spectrum. I am only just starting to learn about testosterone and steroids so will admit I really have no clue.

Just seen my doc this morning and told her I want to have my test levels checked along with cholesterol, liver, digestive enzymes etc etc. Told her my libido is low, erections are hard to get or maintain, down in the dumps etc all of which is not true.

She told me low testosterone levels are very rare and it could be a number of many other things and was not really convinced it could be that but I insisted I wanted to get some blood work done to check anyway and would like a print out of my results.

I get the test done next week so any advise from here on out in regards what to do next to increase my chances or how to take things further if I do in fact have low test and cannot get prescribed trt

Many thanks
Kevin

If this doctor is not wiling to prescribe TRT then find one who will.

WTF is "Low test is rare?????"

This doctor is a quack, tell her if she has a crystal ball and can see inside you to give me the winning lottery numbers and who's going to win the Super Bowl.

I know right? As soon as she said that I knew I'm gonna have no chance with the Doc. Still, will get my testosterone, thyroid, and all that good stuff checked next week. If I don't get try through this doc but my results do show I'm low, where else in the UK can I go to try and get on?

one other thing thats' on my mind. If my test levels are good but I do decide to jump on some testosterone anyway, would it be best to cycle or stay on as if i was on trt?

Well first I'm eating to find out if I actually need it or not as I haven't had the results back yet.

If I do need it of course it makes sense to stay on. Even if it's just low why would I want to cycle just to go back to my shitty levels? Of course this is all here say at the minute until I find out where my levels are.

Let's see the results of your bloods 1st. I would NOT recommend staying on unless it's ABSOLUTELY necessary. You're still a young guy.

Today with the choices we have for OCT and PCT cycle on and off safely and responsibly.

I am 30 years old and my test level number was 180, they checked out several things before starting my TRT because they said it wasn't normal for me to have low test, I'm a good bit younger than you though so I'm sure that's why.
Not doing a PCT completely destroyed my natural test, so be safe.
Btw low test for me made me feel like was entire body was falling apart, I went to the gym 6 days a week, after my test dropped I went maybe once a week... I just couldn't do it.

HI, thanks for your reply man. Did not doing a PCT destroy your test at some other point as from what I have been reading once a doc prescribes try you usually stay on?
I still train 7 days a week, week 6 with weights and 1 cardio. Never feel fatigued.

Been listing to a lot of pod casts over at danger and Play dot com and they preach staying on and just doing blast and cruise. For me the deciding factor is what my results say which i will post here once I get them back.

Appreciate tour advise man.

ok, just got my blood work back from the doc. Not sure if we do it differently here in the UK so not sure how to understand the results.

testosterone is 1

4.6 nmol/L out of a scale of 8.7-29.0

Liver function test

ALT 23

Cholesterol 5.0 mmol/mol
Triglyceride 1.1 mmol/mol
HDL Cholesterol 1.1 mmol/mol
LDL Cholesterol 3.4 mmol/mol
Glucose 3.1 mmol/L out of 3.0-7.8

TSH is 0.91 mU/L out of 0.27-4.2

Vitamin B12 is 1312 out of 180-190 This looks bad?

421 is on the low side "on paper"

You could justify that as low and needing TRT.

Lemme ask you; how do you feel?

In my mind I see it as low as well. I just see it as 6 pints from the bottom and 15 from the top. I feel ok gym in regards to the gym and motivation but everything else is kinda shit. No motivation, lost enthusaims for things I used to extremely love doing

If that's the case then you're a candidate for TRT. That was how I was feeling when I was diagnosed in 2013, plus a lot of other negatives.

You may also be able to fix it naturally with over the counter remedies; test boosters, etc.

If you go on TRT then there's no going back. The doctors say you can come off but I don't know how common that is without problems.

The ball is in your court....

Yea I hear that and that what worries me most about TRT. I'm almost tempted to do a cycle instead. Not sure I would like to use test boosters with all the liver issues it can cause.

Initially when I 1st went on TRT it was like I was re-born. But there are a lot of other concerns you need to be aware of with TRT.

I never knew I needed to check my RBC count on a regular basis. TRT causes my RBC count to skyrocket, so I need to give blood pretty regularly. This is why you need a good doc who is going to do more than just say "here's some test"

You also need to monitor your cortisol & estrogen ALL the time, which anyone who is cycling should be doing anyway...but now you're doing it all the time.

In my case I feel this is all worth it for how I feel since I was diagnosed and went on TRT. But I still advise that TRT should be a last resort

EZ_E, How often are you getting blood work done to be checking your RBC and Estrogen levels? Is this just as important on low TRT doses of 200mg as it is with people who cycle on higher doses?

What about fish oils for Cholesterol and aspirin to thin the blood? Would this be necessary also?

How often would you give blood to keep RBC in check?

I get a full test every 2-3 months. It's important ALL THE TIME.

I get phlebotomy as often as necessary, per the RBC count @ the time. My last one was August & I am due for one now.

I'm not too educated on fish oils & aspirin for what you're asking but if anyone has more insight, I'd like to hear some opinions.

Thanks for the reply. So you just get blood drawn depending on your blood count at the time? Makes sense. But how do you know it worked if you wait another 3 months before checking again?

Will look more into the fish oil and aspirin thinning the blood as well but from all the research ive done so far it works.

Dump your doc, find a rejuvenation clinic near you, they have no problems prescribing you test gh and other medicines to keep you feeling young

Had another talk with my Doc. She has spoken to an Endo who wants to take a test for "free androgen index" if he's unhappy with the results he will give me trt.

Mad me laugh a bit when she said the endo didn't want to give me any because my balls would shrink? on 150-200mg?

According to Wikipedia, As a guide, in healthy adult men typical FAI values are 30-150. Values below 30 may indicate testosterone deficiency, which may contribute to fatigue, erectile dysfunction, osteoporosis and loss of secondary sex characteristics.

Booing in my appointment for my blood test now. Can't wait to see the results.

My free and total test was in the mid range and I was STILL prescribed TRT by an excellent doctor. He says bloodwork doesn't mean jack shit- symptoms do..... everyone's different and it's not "here take a test- the results are black and white".

Find a new doctor man.

ok, got my free androgen index results and I am 75 out of a range of 30-150. I'm smack in the middle.

I would look for another doctor. You say your doctor is fascinated by numbers, then he's a numbers freak that likes to read statistics, instead of concentrating on his patient!
Ditch this doc and find another. ASAP!
