Getting Back into Workout Mode

Hey guys, we've all had to take time off of working out for various reasons (injuries, work, personal etc.), and it's good to take a week off every few months anyways.

But when you do take time off of working out, how do you motivate yourself to get back into the gym?

For me, I like to watch YouTube videos of other bodybuilders working hard, and also research new workouts/training programs. But what about the rest of you; how do you get back into workout mode after taking some time off?

It's like creating a habit. You had to create the habit of start working out. When you stop, you can always go back. We are inherently lazy beings, so make it your goal to go back without any superhuman expectations.

Watching videos is fine, it gets you motivated, but better than having a short motivation burst is to make use of your own willpower. I'd workout under harsh environments (heat, cold, no music) to be focused on my workout.

Same as you George, but I also engage in conversations with my brothers who also lift. Sometimes hearing comments from coworkers and looking at old pictures will work too. Last year the motivation was Halloween...Bane.

Taking time off sucks, but is a necessary evil. I usually plan my week off around my work schedule. If I know I'm working 16s for a few days, then I know there's no way of making it in.
