How about we start a war. A war on... Terror! That's it! A war where the prime objective is going after terrorists!!!

I ought to be appointed President...

I would love it if US special forces actually found him (before he gets beheaded) and stormed the place and saved him.

Maybe we need to put GPS tracer microchips on every soldier and Haliburton employee over there, this way when they are kidnapped we can just home in on their signal. And to protect the safety of every American here at home, we can install similar chips into every US citizen's body, so that way if (when) terrorist's begin kidnappng civilians in the states, we can also track them and save them as well.

I feel for his ass. No telling what torture he is receiving. Why dont we blame Bush? Right, we're smarter than that. Okay, some of us are smarter than that.

Isn't there some type of security over there for the contractors? Shouldn't these workers be escorted by soldiers in humvees or tanks? How does this happen? Do they just hop on their bicycles and ride down main street in Baghdad to go to work? How did they kidnap another soldier without a fight? Don't these marines stay together in groups?

I didn't support going into Iraq in the first place, but damn it, I think we're about 100,000 troops too short over there to do the job right.

He would have been SO much luckier to be kidnapped by the rebels in Columbia or by some crack heads in mexico city. Those christian kidnappers are the way to go.

Fucking idiot?

Contractors over there have types of "safe zones." At least they did last I heard of. Basically, as long as you remain within the guarded 5sq mile perimeter you are safe (troops, towers, armor, etc). These people who have been kidnapped have taken it upon themselves to travel outside said perimeter.

Every fucking week someone is getting beheaded! Are we Accomplishing anything over there?

are they? I say we are killing at least 20-50 terrorists a week... they are beheading 1-3 people a week?... I am glad we are on this side of the equation...

Well lets see:

3 heads a week, @ 10 more years until we get out of there gives us....

about 1560 heads. Toss in Syria and Iran and Saudi heads taking into their populations.. at a new invasion every two years, and the Muslim 3-1 population growth advantage... hmmm.. thats about 14250 heads.

We better get moving.

Do some research on WWII and how many American G.I.'s died PER DAY
and come back in here and complain about 3 a week...

I'd prefer not to be on either side of this equation.

I doubt we're using head counts (no pun intended) as a metric for success. I believe we're using far less concrete metrics, like total terrorist related traffic over known channels and such.

I posted those figures a couple of months ago, good sir.

I have never complained about men dieing for a just cause or members of any family, you and I included, being sacrificed to save the world from tyrany.

Me either, but lets face it the reason they do this shit is cause they really don't have a chance...

What is interesting to me is that the only just killed a few fellow arabs/iraqis... I am wondering how much this will increase now that the handover has occured.

I bet it will be awhile before the Iraqis clue in that these terrorists are holding them back from peace over there..

If I was them I would be taking advantage of all the free money and technology they can get, they have a chance to end up far ahead of all the rest of the 3rd world coutries in their neighborhood....

The primary reason they are so enraged is because the muslim culture was not ready to be thrust into the modern age back in 1938 when the US introduced oil drilling to the kingdom of saudi arabia. We literally ruined their way of life which had stood for centuries.

They don't want our technology or our money. They want their culture restored to what they considered to be their golden age.

But yes, if they were interested in money they should/could be getting heavily involved in making sure Iraw survives and succeeds as an emerging market.

When you say "they" do you mean most iraqis, or do you mean the ones that generally have the power, the terrorists and the ones that ruled under saddam's regime...?

I bet a majority of iraqis, who don't have a pot to piss in (who I personally feel can't stand up to THEM on thier own) would love some improved quality of life our money and technology can bring them...

Of couse I doubt they will ever stand up to those who used to be in power or sell them out so we can off em regardless...

For now, let's define "they" as the terrorist and resistance forces.

The destitute in Iraq will take what they can get, and I don't think a democratic government would be on their top 20 list.

I've been in the ME region for long periods of time over the last 12 years or so. The older folks do not want anyone to tell them how to govern themselves. And the youth are easily swayed to extremism. You add the two together and you have a dangerous mix.

This is not to say they are all violent suicide-bombers. Simply that, like everyone else, they do not take well to bullying.

So like the opposite of here? lol

I hear you... I just wonder if they start executing more fellow muslims if the general population will see through the terrorists/insurgent ideas to keep themselves and those like them in power...

These fools need to stay inside their safe zones where they only have to worry about incoming mortar rounds and at least have someone to fire back.

the iraq civil war is gonna go on for the next 20-40 years now guaranteed.

I wonder if the US is prepared to sit around and be right in the middle of this for that long. Or until CNN gets bored of constant Iraq coverage and tells Bush to hurry up and fucking get it over with already.

The american public will eventually tire of it and the administration will have to put a happy ending on it sooner or later. 20 year vietnam wars are no longer options these days.

Nick Berg was not in a Green Zone in Iraq.

The last contractor was in a safe zone in Saudi Arabia, the city where 90% of the kingdom's workforce lives is considered a safe zone. He was married to a SA national and had children who claimed SA citizenship.

Green Zones in Iraq, are very heavily protected. Essentially they are treated exactly like military bases. No one gets in or out without proper identification.

Which leads to major major problems, identifying their citizens.
Currently Iraq has NO official forms of identification, it is not uncommon for one citizen to have 3-4 forms of ID, some with the names wrong. It's a logistical nightmare.

SmartStrongandSexy,
Have you guys bid on the biometrics contract the Iraq is looking for biometric cards??

If you don't mind, PM the name of your firm. I thought you'd mentioned it to me in the past.

You guys do biometric recognition right?
Anything with the DoD's CAC?

No, we're not large enough to bite that kind of contract off.
