Someone posted this from another forum - made me laugh a fair bit :D

I must try this one day :p

"Once again you should read the book Muscle.....it is soooo funny but they talk about gym attitude and they would go right up the the sign that says dont drop the weights and drop them and scream and stuff like that. One of the memorable scenarios in the book is the "hulk" who is deadlifting and he is warming up with 225 "he did 10 lightening quick reps with 225 and then slamed the bar to the ground with total disgust......after getting a drink he added three more wheels to each side and proceeded to knock of sets of ten with a rapt expression on his face as if nothing could please him more than being here and doing this....after his set he hiked up his short in front of the mirror and screamed "LOOK AT THESE F-KING HAMS" The thing that comes up in the book is having no respect for "barbie" weights and being disgusted with the small weights you are using.......it is a funny book......."

Could you imagine the strength this guy must have been packin?
I mean seriously.. who could EVER deadlift 225 with lighting quick speed... that is just a rediculous amount of weight... Especially for lighting speed.. I mean c'mon... people need to grow up and quit tellin tales about how much weight people can dead... honestly, how many people here are pulling 225+???
Thanks

Well I can clean pull 225lb, so that's even faster than a normal deadlift so its not a big a deal since I only deadlift around 405+ , you should be able to lift 50% of your max pretty damn fast, ie power clean it.

But that's not the point - the above scene just cacked me up, especially the bit where he pulls up his shorts and shouts out aloud in the gym to everyone :)

I love the book Muscle, Confessions of an Unlikely Bodybuilder [Samuel Fussell]. I have read it like 5 times. It was given to me by my english teacher a few years back.

Anyway, thw whole book rocks. Its a little depressing, but at the same time, its totally inspirational!

The one part that always bugs me though, is that after only 6 months of training on universal machines, the author says he could rep 225 like 10 times or something. Dammit! I can't even do that, i have been training for way more than 6 months!

Yeah, but everyone should own a copy.
