Free Testosterone

My cousin got his hormone levels checked, his range in testosterone was on the higher end of the scale, but his free testosterone was deficient.
What kind of trt should I suggest he seeks? Is there away to fix this problem without going on TRT? I'm going to recommend that he gets an AI, if the specialist prescribes any kind of hormone.

no you want to bind to SHBG and inhibit it

that will cause free test to rise.. that is why a lot of guys stack proviron in their cycles, cause it is so effective at binding to SHBG

certain supplements do a great job of doing this since your friend wants to stay natural.

but I bet you my left nut your friend is using drugs and many drugs will cause SHBG to skyrocket.. finasteride is an obvious one. antidepressants, statins, and beta blockers will do it too

Steve is 100% right. Your free testosterone is what actually matters. Free testosterone is a measure of the active form of testosterone in the body.

lowering SHBG will increase free testosterone in the body.

Here are some natural supplements:
Boron, magnesium and Vit D increase free testosterone
Fish oil has also been shown to increase free testosterone
Certain prescription drugs (like steve mentioned) will increase SHBG to increase and lower free testosterone

Impressive stuff gents. Thank-you for your response. My cousin appreciates it too! So he told me he's taking Adderal and Motrin daily, no anti-depressants. His cortisol levels are high I'm sure as he's always tired and stressed out. Having the low free test is definitely putting an impact on his life as he is always out of energy and motivation.
So if lowering his SHBG will raise his free testosterone, the side effects will include a lower sex drive. After his free test goes up, will his SHBG have a rebound effect? I sent him the conversation and he's worried about losing libido.

Here are his test results. The first thing I said to him after he showed me them a couple months ago, was why didn't they test his SHBG... funny that it could be the reason why his free testosterone isn't higher.

Free testosterone is the only kind that matters since it's the only testosterone that is actively doing anything. Avenacosides and muara puama have been shown to increase free testosterone. Also proviron and arimidex.

Believe you me - with 50 mgs of proviron lower libido is the last thing in the world to expect. What's more, it will increase his libido and sex drive, so if this issue got him concerned, proviron is the way to go.

so he is taking 2 drugs daily ? why?

daily drug use is awful, take away the free testosterone argument. you don't want to be a slave for a drug for life!

Adderall is an ADHD drug.. not sure why he takes motrin daily but that can't be good either. sounds like the guy is in desperate need of balance in his life..

and the sad thing is some doctor probably put him on those drugs and he doesn't even need them

My cousin has ADHD pretty bad. Without something, he has no attention span and very bad memory. I remember hearing about a sarm or one of the research chemicals that improves memory. Does anyone know which one I'm talking about?

^^^ if I was him I would stack in a test booster with those ADHD meds. I understand his situation and I don't want people to think that I don't have empathy for people in that situation. however, the reality is there are too many people out there who docs will put on drugs right away, instead of trying other things first.

example: a buddy of mine has the worst depression.. I took him with me to the gym, we bicycled 6 miles and we had a tough workout with stretching and yoga. afterwards he was smiling and laughing. totally different person. I bet if your cousin exercised and ate correctly his problems would improve drastically. in his situation if he was taking caffeine that would make his problem worse, he has to avoid stims !

SHBG stands for sexual hormone binding globulin, which pretty much attaches to your testosterone molicules and make them 'unusable' in a way.

Therefore your goal has to be decrease SHBG, not to increase it

Shit, my Free Test averages 285 on a scale of 0-150.

proviron is a great compound to use here. I bet if he doses it at 25-50mg per day it will make a huge difference.
