Football bet....

no that's a horrible bet. im a huge lions fan and i wouldn't take those odds at 4-1.

you can get +160 on your 100 for the lions having 5.5+ wins.

like nb said, it'll take at least 9 wins for them to make the playoffs.

it'd be a good bet in '04. their key players are all too young. (harrington, rogers, bailey, edwards) they'll have tons of cap space for the O line in 04 and i see them trying to pick up champ bailey from the 'skins.

i can't wait for football. if any of you guys have direcTV NFl season pass i'll pay you $15 each week to tape the detroit games.

dude who's holding that under/over 5.5 wins bet? I'd take that in a second for those odds.

canbet.com is hosting the +/- 5.5

Detroit Season Wins (Must Play 16 Games)
Over 5.5 Regular Season Wins 1.62
Under 5.5 Regular Season Wins 2.31

i haven't checked many of the other sportsbooks to see what their line is.

ah ok. for some reason I thought it was +160 if you took the over at 5.5... I'd have been ALL over that.

I like the lions to beat the 5.5.

Isn't that essentially what he posted? I'm new to this.

isn't it? 1.62 means $1.62 for every dollar you bet, no?

$100 x 1.62 = $162

You guys want to get an EF fantasy football league going on espn.com?

I'll be the league manager and get everything set up if enough people are interested. I've never actually managed a league so if anyone else is familiar with it they might do a better job than I.

according to canbet.com

if you chose the lions to win OVER 5.5 games you'd win $131 for every $100 you put in.
if you chose the lions to win OVER 5.5 you'd win $60 dollars for every $100 you wagered.

I was confused as to what mylife was talking about.

when you bet online they operate a little differently than a real life bookie. Online you have to deposit money into your account, then make a wager or wagers.
for example

Detroit Season Wins (Must Play 16 Games)
Over 5.5 Regular Season Wins 1.62
Under 5.5 Regular Season Wins 2.31

lets say I took the lions to go OVER the 5.5. I would wager $100, and if I won I'd get back $160 ($100 I initially wagerd plus the $62 for winning the bet).

if I took the lions UNDER 5.5 and wagered 100 and I won, I'd get back a total of $231 ($100, my initial bet, and $130 for winning the bet)

Does this make sense?

Yeah, but I think it is bullshit....try to use that logic in real life and you would get your ass kicked.

Oops. I was viewing the betting pages in International format.

Here's USD odds:

Detroit Season Wins (Must Play 16 Games)
Over 5.5 Regular Season Wins -161
Under 5.5 Regular Season Wins +131

So if you wanted to win $100 on the Over you would deposit $160 and would get your original $160 + $100 for the winning bet.

My bad.

Guy will give me 2 to 1 odds on $100. He says the Detroit Lions will not make the playoffs...I say they will. Should I take the bet?
