As I was studying for my quiz over proteins in my nutrition class I found some somewhat useful information regarding complete proteins. In order for a protein to be complete it must have the 9 essential amino acids. Most complete proteins are found in animal proteins like eggs, chicken, tuna, etc. However, certain combinations of vegetables and grains can make complete proteins. Some complete complementary protein combinations examples are:
Rice and red beans
Tofu and brown rice
Hummus and bread
Corn and lima beans
Corn and black-eyed peas
Whole wheat & lentils
Pea soup and bread
This is for the person who wants to get the most out of their protein without getting burned out on egg whites and chicken.
