Floyd Mayweather Jr. mulling switch to MMA

He just fought hatten at 146.

He would get killed imho. It takes years to become instictive at mma, his boxing past would haunt him

All Floyd needs is 6 months of ground training. His stand and punch skills will be so superior to anyone elses in his division, that he'll KO most if not all of them standing up.

He'd also have to learn how to do kicks as well.

A) stand up in a boxing ring is different from stand up in an MMA fight. Different gloves, you hold your hands differently.....the timing is different. In boxing you're only worried about the other guys hands. In MMA you've got hands, feet and you have to have a good sprawl against a shooter. It ABSOLUTELY alters the way you fight standup.

B) If he's at 146......than he's within BJ's sights. BJ penn would fuck him up in way's he's never dreamed of. I think he would beat Mayweather in standup. But honestly he'd just come in and pick him up and slam him. Mayweather has brittle hands..........how're they gonna hold up without the big gloves?

He may be able to do ok after 6 months training, but no way he's going to ko most if not all of them standing up

The lower eschelon ones. LoL

Think about this. Seriously... Say Mayweather enters MMA at the lightweight division and were to take on some battle tested guys in that division. These are all potential opponents he would face off the top of my head....

BJ Penn vs Mayweather

Norifumi Yamamoto vs Mayweather

Takanori Gomi vs Mayweather

Sean Sherk vs Mayweather

Vitor Ribeiro vs Mayweather

Frankie Edgar vs Mayweather

Augusto Frota vs Mayweather

I cannot realistically see Flyod winning any of these bouts under MMA rules... Sure he has a "puncher's chance" but do you REALLY think he can defend from being taken down and then survive down there? How about dealing with knees from the clinch?? He will have to disappear for about 2 years and train strictly wrestling, BJJ & some Muay Thai and THEN this can be a serious discussion. He certainly is a world class athlete so he can probably do decently well if he respects all the disciplines and trains in them all for an extended period. But within a year from now? Forget it!
