Hello Everyone!
I originally posted on May 18th, and have learned so much!
I was guided by Bunny, Sassy, Ulter, Shadow...I have come to the forum looking for a better way fo life, and of course a better physique.
I have always been active and into sports, may have not been the best of Sports Billy, but always on the go.
Started lifting 8 years ago and have tried to eat clean most fo the time.
I spent alot of time in the gym, trying to hit all muscle groups thinking more was better, and it seems I may have been over doing it.
I was tired and yes, not eating the right amounts of protein, carbs and fat.
I admit and declare myself a CARB & FAT paranoic.
I was doing so much trying to get rid of the excess fat, and doing it the wrong way.
Main problems hips and thighs, Estrogen areas it seems.
Well now things have changed...

I have made the comitment of training by Shadows program.
I am 39 years old.
I weigh 116.6 lbs
I am 5´5.
I do not have a BF index yet, sorry...
I am eating 1300 calories 40/30/30 (thanks Shadow) opposed to the 1132 calories 60/22/18, I was consuming before I wrote Shadow.
Since June 1 to June 6 I have lost 3.5 lbs. which I assume were fat.

I started Shadows program today and feel good about it.

Meal 1
4 egg whites
1/2 cup 3 minute oats raw w/sweet and low and water.
1 large cup coffee.
Meal 2
4 egg whites
1.5 oz 3 minute oats raw w/sweet and low and water.
10 almonds
Meal 3
8 oz. grilled chicken breast
1.5 c vegetable mix
1 tbsp. extra virgin olive oil.
Sugar Free Jello
Meal 4
1 medium apple
1 tbsp peanut butter (JIF reduced fat)
Meal 5
Zone Perfect bar
Meal 6
2 egg whites
2 oz. low queso fresco
1/2 c sliced mushrooms.

Todays Macros are 1298 calories
41/29/29.
Fitday is pretty slow now, so I will post calories for meals later.
Fitday is my official calorie counter.
I have ordered from Anafit, Thermorexin (?) and Yohimburn.
I will star using them in late June, they are in Texas I am In Mexico.

Must go pick them up...

In the meantime Diet is key and workouts the steel that will keep me up!
Yahooooooooooo! I feel like a poet! LOL

Did you feel like I, that previous workouts were way more exhausting and you were not achieving results as quick or as you wanted?

Partly that, but partly is I get bored putting together my own routines and sticking with them. If I have someone even just write up a plan I can follow it no problem... Just a harder time following my own steps.

I am a happy cookie this morning.
It's great to feel support and to share thoughts and emotions with persons seeking the same goals.
I believe greatness in character comes from accepting own mistakes.
So as dumb as it may seem here is my personal confession.

I must admit that yesterday day 1 in Shadows project, I actually did 4 sets of 15, 12, 10, 8, 6 four times! I misunderstood and of course being used to pretty heavy loads, thought ah what the heck, that's what I came for....lose body fat!
LOL so I did 204 leg press, and 204 stiff deads!
Of course I did break out in a sweat like never before!

Today was a good morning!
I enjoyed the TUT experience much more than yesterday LOL.
In fact I loved it!
There is so much difference in really doing it slow.

Here is the meal diary:
Meal 1 7:00 am
calories protein carb fat
4 egg whites 66 14 1 0
1/2 C raw oats 156 6 27 3
Total cals. 221

Meal 2 10:15 am calories protein carb fat

4 egg whites 66 14 1 0
2 oz. raw oats 62 3 11 1
3 almonds 21 1 1 2
Total Cals. 149

Meal two was after workout.
I did vary in the ab exercises just a bit, last two supesets I did leg lifts on bench, because quads are really sore form yesterday and could not keep them up in the sissors.

Oh another thing...I have no idea what the Karmas are and how can I get rid of those google tc ads under my posts?

Nope ANAFIT would ship to Mexico, but I did not want to risk losing the merchandise...I had it shipped to SAT, and I am going to pick it up.

All I can say about customs is that Bf had a bike sproket shipped here and it was fine FEDEX Over night, of course invoice had to be altered for taxing purposes.

Hi there,
I as you know started the program Tuesday and have done good! Actually eating more than I used to, and that has me a bit scared, I really don't know why since I am starting to feel leaner and see some veins on my torso. My shoulders are a bit leaner too, the tricep area, is bit leaner too...The HIPS ...oh they are writing their tombstone!

I think the diet has been the main reason I am seeing results.
I'm on a 24 hr. trip...(As in paranoid) Crazy Flower here...LOL
So many years of watching carbs, thinking they were created to make my life miserable...LOL..Seriously had a big problem with them in whatever form they came in.
Now I am coming to the conclusion that as much as I tried to stay away from them because they would glue themselves to my adipose tissue, the body was trying to cling on to any carb income, since it got so little of it.
I hope this all makes sense to someone and can give me some feedback about it.
I cannot lie and pretend I am not afraid of gaining fat.
Yet LOGICALLY, it does not make sense how eating clean 40/30/30 and following THE SHADOWS plan could not work.
It has worked for so many, and his wise words...¨Ive been training for more than a decade......and I can say that 40 minutes of HIIT cardio 3x per week with a tight diet will melt fat faster than you could possiby imagine....add in the sups recommended, and you cant HELP but lose fat.¨

Here is my caloric intake for today

6:00 am
4 Egg, white
3 Almonds, unroasted
1/2 C raw oats

large coffee
3 liters water

10:20
1 Zone perfect bar
750 ml. water

13:00
4 egg whites
1 oz. raw oats sweet & low water
7 almonds

14:30
sugar free jello (small)

15:00
7 oz. grilled chicken breast
1.5 C carrots & peas.
Cristal light

18:00
8oz fat/sugar free yogurth
1/2 medium apple 3 large strawberries
1/2 tsp. peanut butter.

I am doing so good that -ja ja ja ja- I forgot to add the morning oats and man oh man...I was trying to fix the caloric balance with my last meal...kind of made it workout...had to reduce it to 2 egg whites 1 oz raw mushrooms and pam cooking spray to stii be over by 36 cals....Total for today will be 1336 39/33/28 P/C/F

My main problem over the years was not too much cheating...
It was like I said before, CARB FAT PARANOIC and disbalanced diet for that matter...
But now...Oo la la...

Now I have come to the right place...
When the student is ready...The TEACHER will come

Good Morning Jens...An easy way to remember Guapo (Handsome) can be relatint it to WOW..Gu...kind of similar....the w sound...phonetics...LOL.

Today I do my 1st. shoulder workout I am sure it will be good!
I love to work shoulders.
Then I will sunbathe like a princess, and out to lunch with BF.

Shoulder workout was good, a little sore from yesterdays chest, only when I touch it, otherwise its fine.

Note:On shoulder it said front laterals with disk...
I imagine it was frontal with disk...am i right?

Today I have been oh so thirsty!
My hamstrings are sore from Tuesdays Mistake 200+ leg press reps, and stiff deads.
I am seeing results from diet and program...I notice I am a bit irritable,and have some mood swings.
I don't know if it's diet related or just life.
I am also looking foward to tomorrows HIIT session.
Hope to take progress pictures this weekend.

I think has fluctuated...maybe 1 lb. higher...Could it be water? or muscle related?

Buenas noches!!

It's front lateral raises holding a plate.....so, standing up, lift your arm holdng it straight up in the air while holding a plate (I use a dumbbell).....

I did it with a 10 lb. plate but I did it with both hands holding the plate with both hands.....standing up....no wall support...

BTW .. Friday in Mexico sounds wonderful! Friday in Atlanta just means 93 degrees and stuck in traffic earlier than usual....

I would expect your are feeling some difference from the diet w/ your moods. Otherwise, might be near that time of the month (as my mother is always able to pick out for me.... :rolleyes: ) I'm sure in a week or so you will become more comfortable w/ the soreness.

Can hardly wait for progress pix!

It amy be hormonal, the thing is I have no freaking idea if I would be near my period...I had an hysterectomy 7 years ago after my last baby.
So....no periods...no idea.
I am a bit confused with the weight....I weigh more but am leaner!

LOL...A vein...she was grossed out and looked at her tummy and just rolled her eyes!

Ah -- ok. Its probably the diet then.

LOL --- muscle weighs more than fat does -- that's why the scale isnt' a good measure of your progress. My weight hasn't changed but 2 lb, however I almost sit in my size 4 pants again.

LOL congrats on the vein! Kids are soo cute!

It's a greta day today! Going in to do arms, and then HIIT!
I will do it on the threadmill...
What do you think if I do it on the spinner bike? Or just take a class and ignore the teacher! Ja ja ja...The already know I don´t follow thier programs, Before EF I would do 2 hard days 2 active recovery, either there or at the park.
I need to say I am so happy with the leaner me!
And it will be 9 days of diet today.

How are you doing?
I read about the 21´s for bicep curl....I love those!

Why don't you use this evening as your 'cheat meal', you are allowed that ...

There comes a bit of obsession when you are 1st starting to learn how to eat right, eye mesurementments, weigh things ... it gets easier :rose: as this becomes a lifestyle chanes and to teach yourself to make better choices.

Have fun this evening :)

When you say over your limit by 86 cals, what is your limit? Around 1350-1400 right now as your max?

I think you are so positive, and I did enjoy the dinner party...LOL..
Mixed emotions, I ate veggies, and did have 3 red wine glasses...
The worst part and must admit it can be my only weakness...
Dark bitter chocolate cake...had a slice.
Sigh! I went to bed around 2:00 am, and today have been in bed all day!
Its like a truck ran over me...I did not take the plates!

Hi Bunny Are you counting down the hours, minutes for your workout tomorrow?
Hope you have a gerat time lifting!
As for my caloric intake I am on 1300...I was 118 ls.when I started the project and Shadow suggested 11-12 cals X weight, for cutting BF.
Should I change it now that I am 116 lbs? and everytime it fluctuates?

And about last night had raw veggies and 3 glasses of red wine, and dark bitter chocolate cake.
I know it was oh so bad.... :chomp:

Have been in bed all day, eating clean of course, may be too low on calories today, have only had
jell-o

8 oz.plain yogurth granny apple 1TBSP peanut butter

Mexico had its first game and victory today.
On the project I believe it is suggested on sat & sun light cardio if anything, and I see nothing wrong with a brisk walk, but I do think a whole day off of recovery would be good for you, and as you will it as you get further along into the projects It’s hard trying to NOT doing anything but you need to learn to let yourself relax, trust your will power, and look forward to that dinner or treat you’ve been wanting or evening out with the BF .. breakfast in bed, something you enjoy … this needs to be fun and not a death sentence.

It is important to allow yourself one TREAT/cheat meal once a meal so you do not binge, overindulge, cheat or blow the diet during the week .. Think of it as your reward for a week well done & ENJOY & SAVOR every bite.

I want to go to bed right now actually .. we'll see how that goes :rose:

REMEMBER - A cheat meal is planned for and should be enjoyed as a reward for work well done.

Buns s correct...light cardio - walk, roller blading biking etc.

I feel its very important to get outside in the sun as much as possible

Had pictures taken today and ugh! I know it sounds so awful and I may just my worst critic...I will post them because I must conquer my fears and my oh so big vanity.
I actually feel leaner in some parts of my body.
Fat has lowered in bust,and some in abdomen. It is so strange I see myself as less curvier in waist to hip ratio, yet skin seems so loose. I see my legs with that horrible fat on quads, and it's like the balloon is deflating, and the fat is softer, not alot of muscle to fill in skin.
I want to imagine this is a transition....
Can anyone who las been on the large side of the BF%, tell me a bit on how the change happens? I do not know if it's me that just expects to have a magic wand and have the skin not be so loose.
Bunny if you read this can you tell me how you saw changes in yourself from when you started the project after your illness,and how the BF% looked when you were going from one stage to the other?
Should I just take the pictures with the same attire and same pose so we can see the difference? It's funny but in my everyday life if I look at myself in the mirror, I can see more cuts in my abs or my back for example, but as soon as the camera show up...DANG! They just Freakin' hide....
Another thing...LOL...Does it only happen to me? or does anyone else have the same Damn problem?

had a 45 minute brisk walk, some hilly terrain.

Shadow I just read your reply thanks..
Tomorrow I do leg workout week two...(I begin on Tuesdays and finish on Saturdays)
How heavy can I go? Say are lunges walking lunges? I usually do the with a 40-50 lb bar on shoulders is that ok? Or should I do it heavier?
On the TUT reps, I have like you said find the weight by the TUT.
Hope it makes sense!

Can anyone who las been on the large side of the BF%, tell me a bit on how the change happens? I do not know if it's me that just expects to have a magic wand and have the skin not be so loose.
Bunny if you read this can you tell me how you saw changes in yourself from when you started the project after your illness,and how the BF% looked when you were going from one stage to the other?
Should I just take the pictures with the same attire and same pose so we can see the difference? It's funny but in my everyday life if I look at myself in the mirror, I can see more cuts in my abs or my back for example, but as soon as the camera show up...DANG! They just Freakin' hide....
Another thing...LOL...Does it only happen to me? or does anyone else have the same Damn problem?

8:00 am
4 egg whites
1/2 C raw oatmeal
5 almonds
Large coffee.
had a 45 minute brisk walk, some hilly terrain.
11:00 am
4 egg whites
2 oz. raw oatmeal
5 almonds.

How heavy can I go? Say are lunges walking lunges? I usually do the with a 40-50 lb bar on shoulders is that ok? Or should I do it heavier?

Had pictures taken today and ugh! I know it sounds so awful and I may just my worst critic...I will post them because I must conquer my fears and my oh so big vanity.
I actually feel leaner in some parts of my body.
Fat has lowered in bust,and some in abdomen. It is so strange I see myself as less curvier in waist to hip ratio, yet skin seems so loose. I see my legs with that horrible fat on quads, and it's like the balloon is deflating, and the fat is softer, not alot of muscle to fill in skin.

The camera & lighting does NOT do me justice even, unless when I had professional shots taken .. STILL, even ask those that met me in person, I LOOK different ... I am not saying better, just different :)

If you want to keep things on an even keel, the yes wear the same thing each time, each post similar so when you do side-byside comparisions you can SEE the difference better in the same attire, lighting, pose etc ...

It is weird, b.c at times your eyes do play tricks on you .. one week you looked ripped, but the pics don't show it .. the next week you feel like crap, post pics and we are all like "WOW" .. use these pics you just posted as an example ... :)

I see you have been lifting today! Great to know you are doing as you please.
I want to thank you for your post, and It does make sense! That is the worst part about this whole ordeal!
It makes so much sense that it is a bit painful.
It is striving to be best at what I have chosen, as many of us do...
We all have so many different goals in life, and so many ways to get there.
It may be a longer road for some and for some it may be shorter, yet I can see that in every road there are so many lessons to be learned.
So many new persons whom to learn from.
I believe that we meet persons for a reason, to learn from them and once the lesson has taken its toll, then we may just go different ways, yet full of new found wisdom.
I hope you and everyone at EF, has a short path to our own and unique conquest.
I for one, will keep on track with Shadows project, and be happy about it.
I will try and accept, I am doing my best, and cannot change anymore of it.
Body has to respond...As I will keep a tight diet and follow the program and as Shadow said...¨will melt fat faster than you could possiby imagine¨

Miami was relaxing I must say, I have my drive back, I just need to be careful and not jump to deep into things too fast, but I feel really good after today's workout. I think all of my departments are coming along thank you sweets.
 
Flor -- omg girl. You are beautiful! I'm so happy for you! Exactly like Shadow said -- when you are visibly dropping bodyfat, esp in the mid-section, your skin needs a little bit of time to catch up. It will tho. "Loose skin" is partially made up of water & little pockets of fat - not flab fat -but fat- and its just part of continuing the diet and getting past the "macro" level fat (the stuff that makes you look 'thicker' all around) and down to the micro level refinement. But I see a huge difference in your hips -- the "curvey" part you are talking about. Yea the ol' breast tissue does drop a bit -- just part of the "price" of droppign bodyfat.

Basically the whole thing is about getting rid of the excess and then reshapign what is left. The "curvey" you had before was due to excess bodyfat -- now you are shaving that off to the shape of your body and then adding in some muscle to the places where the curves look better :)

I think you will be amazed at what you see in the comign weeks. As you go thru the transition of dropping the bodyfat & buildign the muscle, you do spend some time looking a little flat or w/ the loose skin, but its just a matter of continuing w/ the program - it all takes time, but see can see the transition and it just keeps getting better. And whiel you are seeing it happen, you also can say "Yea, I did that! And NO I'm not 18yrs old and yes I'm a mom and I'm hot, tight and vibrant - keep up if you can...!"

Oh Sass you are such a good sport! I understand perfectly what you mean when you say about getting past the macro level of fat to the micro level.
I would like to share my experience with everyone, in case it may be helpful.
Now that you remind me of how changing levels of BF% happen and show, I am once again at the point where it is so critical not to let my body try to induce me to eat things that will not allow it to get to the next lower level! And for that matter also the mind!
It's like there is a little switch that activates all the little ¨people¨cells, army like batallions...LOL....that just fight desperately to stay in my body, not wanting to go...
Not a set point really, I think that comes before, (in the curvier me) more of a survival method, (my recurring experiece at this point is...¨see that fat is still there just abandon it, give up, keep living the simple easy life¨...etc).

I have felt this way before and I am trying to encourage anyone who has felt it, to not let the negative part fo your body, or your mind conquer you!
I have felt this several times and I have not been succesful all the times! Some just for a couple of days, and then just plain give in.
And society does not help, on the contrary, they just go on about me being obsesed, or down right crazy.
(I don't understand why it can be ok to tell someone thay are too thin, or why they can give out opinions on thinness, and not feel intrusive...BUT if you even suggest someone is overweight..DANG IT...YOU are rude!)

Yesterday I said I had to conquer my vainty and posts the pictures, well I did have recurring thoughts during my brisk walk, about just not getting to the BF level I wanted, so why even diet!

I am now aware these thoughts are both a pshycological matter and I am truly believing that they are also FAT ARMY related.
I am posting these thoughts to help anyone or everyone who encounters these feelings!
Do not let your mind, body or even your concience (angel vs. devil in cartoons) play these tricks on you.
You are not doing any harm to your body, so do not let it win the battle!

A comparison comes to mind just now, I see it as if I were trying to leave an ugly habit behind, as if I were trying to get hooked off drugs, either I or a friend, and I or He/She knew of no other way of life, and were terrified to seek a better life....
How the cowardness of feeling pain, just paralized us, and we BY CHOICE decided to stay in a life that had so little, if any satisfaction.
And came to a steady slow death day by day.

I think we can all learn from each other, and do as we please.
Let's do what we are here for, and strive for perfection, because by gaining control of our fears we become stronger and able to shine in this oh so cloudy world!

Let our sunshine out and project ourselves as beautiful healthy persons.

There is no way we would harm what we love best, and what is our means of comunication and our transportation and our most cherished belonging...
OUR BODY, that without the blood that pumps through it would have no life, no passion, no strength.
There is no point in having it, if we are not using it to thank our creator and give him something in return!

Ooo la la..

I hope this read helps someone as much as it has helped me write it.

No one really teaches us how nutrition works so we somehow feel like we are supposed to make massive changes immediately. That sets the expectations and then when people don't "accomplish" that expectation in 2 days or less, they feel like failiures. People allow themselves to literally be victims of themselves w/ that mindset and won't even commit to 2 lousy weeks to try a "clean lifestyle".

Its amazing but it happens every day and I bet we've all got stories of spending years of our lives being "victimized".

I can't do just regular water either. I put just enough Chrystal Lite in it to barely taste the flavoring and that seems to help. That and switching off to Green Tea here and there.

Congrats on the divorce!!!! :rose: uhhh, I hope that "yahoo" means congrats are in order!

I was good girl today! I did first day of week two (I begin week/workouts on Tuesdays) and I did my walking lunges with 70 lbs. bar on shoulders...
It was good, sometimes even felt shoulders even more tired than legs...LOL.
It was good I enjoyed it and the best part of the day, is that I finally got appointment for BF% test for tomorrow....
I hope I am not disappointed, I feel like if I am being tested by ¨Flor the wicked school principal¨LOL and I do not want to fail the test.
I am so hung up on perfection...Dang it! How was your lifting today?
Diet was good, not alot of water today maybe 4 liters max, two alrge starbucks mobile mugs...
Went Graduation dress shopping for Paulina eldest daughter...fianlly found my best seamstress to make it for her.
Reason I was away so much today,I jope you missed me like I missed you! :qt:

That's a brilliant way of putting it.

Looked at your pics and it struck me how your starting point is my ending point of my first goal (visually speaking). I guess whatever stage we're at, we personally feel that there is always room for improvement, whether others think so or not.

I hurt my knee in February, so I had knee surgery - thus I haven't done lunges in forever!! But I've used 25lb DBs before.....

Oh and did I mention that I loathe lunges??

LOL what a way to start a morning SMILING!
I do not love lunges either...I do not dislike them either...They are in the mixed emotions department..LOL, since I do them with the bar on shoulders, it just gets stressed somehow.
I have a stress relieving desire in my imagination, when I'm down and beat, I imagine I have a zipper that runs from one shoulder to the other over my head, and i just unzip it and the skin just falls off like a dress would!
So on the lunges, I imagine that on the last of the 24 steps, and it relieves the tension there...
I am so descriptive..LOL...so it's a good weight 70 lbs.?

I think you are doing good and hell, I was there once. It's been a long journey after pregnacies, don't you stop girl...
Like I said before when I get negative, thoughts I jus load my CPU with Sassy & Bunny pictures (adding more EF girls)and I shift to 1st gear and take off!..

You keep going! It's the same struggle for all, it takes courage to stay in the fight against the FAT ARMY...and I repeat it many times during my workouts..¨Se valiente¨ ¨Be brave¨and just keep lifting.
It's only a matter of minutes then comes the reward for so many hours!
Mermaid...Smile! You are alive and have the PAN BY THE HANDLE!
HOPES IT TRANSLATES WELL! :)

I refer to Jens as "The Lunge Queen." She was always doing lunges, around the house, down the street.......

I try to have Protein, carbs, and fat in all meals, not always in that %, but at the end of the day they should be in those macros.
Anyway...I will get in the shower and try to melt away my frustration.
