Fish Oils Vs UDos

What's better Fish oils or UDO's flax choice oil?

right now im taking 1 dessertspoon of UDOs twice a day im thinking maybe i should take it once a day and fish oils once a day or am I fine with just UDOs (and save more money)

If you had to choose just one, I would go with the fish oils, but both is prolly better. As I recall, UDOs doesn't have EPA or DHA in it, and you can't guarantee that your body will have adequate enzymes to convert UDOs to these two essential fats. Your plan sounds good.

I'd go with the fish oil.

I've read the optimal dose is 6g of DHA/EPA.....I take ten NOW brand Super EPA softgels daily, 2 with each meal...two caps have 2.4g fat and 1.2g EPA/DHA

I like the fish oils myself......but is there a difference in quality from one brand to the next ??

I aim for maybe 6-10 grams combined EPA/DHA a day.

If I take 20 Fish Oil caps, that yields 10 grams total usable EPA/DHA. Thats only 250 kcals per day.

If I did the same with Flax Oil, Barlean's or Udo's for instance. Consuming 4T Barleans would yield roughly ~8.7 grams usable EPA/DHA assuming a relatively high 35% conversion rate. That is also 440 kcals.

For me flax/udo's is not very filling. Since many people restrict calories on a cutting diet, it makes a lot more sense to me to have a sure bet of getting plenty of EPA/DHA using fish oil and still have at least an extra 440-250 = 190 kcals that can be taken from a different more filling food source. Think, two heaping spoonfulls of almond butter or peanut butter for instance.
