First cycle gains?

First off, I AM A NEWBIE! A little bit about myself:
I am 19, i am about 6'1 and weigh right around 178(plus or minus a few lbs.). I have been working out for about 2 years now, pretty intense for the past 9 months. I am having trouble gaining mass in my working out, even though i eat like none other. I have had a few friends that have done some cycles, and have come out on top with the side effects and benefits. I am wanting to do a cycle, my question is...Is just a single cycle safe? beneficial? Each of my friends that did one cycle ended up doing multiple others and got bigger than i want to be. I am not looking to be a body builder, but i want to be larger than i am, with good strength. Mainly mass is my key because i have alot of trouble gaining it naturally because of my high metabolism. I have been told that a decent cycle of deca will get me what i need. I understand that some of the guys on here get a little upset with the newbie posts, but im hopeing that a few of you will be able to help me out. Thanks in advance.

id say before anything start takin alot of protein if your not already. also before any cycle try some creatine. work yourself in slow. you may not need the a cycle of deka if your not looking to get HUGE.

alot of people are going to PHs route. I've heard good things and am on a cycle of it myself. I'm not the most knowledgable about GEAR but my suggestion would be try alternatives before going all out.

Right now i am taking creatine and lots of protein. I have not really noticed anything from taking the creatine. The protein shakes i think help, but only to some extent. What is PH's? I have never heard of that?

Neither a prohormone or steroid cycle is going to help you unless you already have your diet and training put together first.

Are you taking in a least 1-1.5 grams of protein per pound of body weight?

Have you calculated the amount of calories you need on a daily basis to grow, and are you eating that on a regular basis?

Are you training with enough intesity when you go to the gym, and at the same time are you giving yourself adequate time to rest and recuperate?

Are you going out and partying and drinking on a regular basis (since you are 19 and I'd assume you are in college)?

Also, a "decent cycle of deca" as you put it will not do all that much for you (except perhaps give you "deca dick"). Deca is not a highly androgenic steroid, and if it's not stacked with test of some sort you're not going to see large gains from it.

You say you want to put on mass, but that you have a high metabolism (most teens do), well, then you're going to have to counteract that by eating and eating and eating, and after that eat some more. Right now your body is producing higher levels of testosterone than it ever will in your entire life. Stick to heavy compound movements, try to keep isolation work to a minumum and I'm sure you'll see a weight increase.

At 6'1 178 lbs, you are no where near your body's natural potential yet as far as growth goes.

I am taking in right around 1-1.5 grams of protein per lb of body weight. I do eat healthy, although not on a strict diet. I figured out with a plan i found on another website that i need about 3700-3800 calories a day to gain weight. I do party but do not drink. I used to, but grew out of that pretty fast when i got into college, i might have a beer or 2, but nothing serious.(Had a drunk driver hit me in my car about a year and a half ago.) I train on a 5 day schedule. Chest and tri's, back and bi's, light shoulders and abs, legs, and day off, then start the cycle over. Sometimes i take 2 days off if i feel im too sore still, or have not recovered enough.

What do you mean by heavy compound movements? Like 4-5 sets of 5 per exercise?
If a decent cycle of deca will not do much for me, what will give me the edge that i am looking for? I am not looking for much, but i just dont think that im getting far enough with just food and protein.

What you need is a little more patience, not Deca. By heavy compound movement I meant stick primarily with bench presses (inlcine, decline & flat), shoulder/military presses, barbell rows, deadlifts, squats, barbell curls, skullcrushers (lying tricep extensions)

you are 19, you have a very good natural amount of test still producing itself...keep training natural, you shouldnt even be thinking about deca with only 2 years of natural training under your belt..keep your diet, and training up, and results will come.

Thanks for all the responses. Is there anyone specific on here that i could talk to about working out a better diet for me? I try and eat healthy, but i think i need more because i am not seeing results. I take a few supplements, but i dont know what all i should or shouldn't be taking. Thanks
Daniel

At 19 the only supps I was taking was creatine and protein powder (I also took ripped fuel when dieting, but you obviously want to put on weight not lose it).

Get a nice 10 lb. bag of Optimum whey from like dpsnutrition.com, make sure you are getting about 230-270 grams of protein a day, eat lots of complex carbs (oatmeal, whole wheat bread, yams, brown rice) lots of veggies are good too, especially spinach & broccoli.

Maintain a good 4000 or so calories a day and I'm sure you'll see your weight increase.
