This sucks. I have a B.S. in Biology, but everyone that is hiring says they want experience. How the fuck am I gonna get experience if nobody gives me a shot. All the pharmceutical companies are the same way. The only way to get around in this world is to have someone on the inside. Fuck fuck fuckity fuck!!! Yes, I'm pissed as all of you can tell!!!

I just got my AST in graphic design. Everything I've looked at either wants mad experience, or pays in feces.

pay in feces and experience. Just because you're out of school don't mean you're done learning. Take the shit jobs, get the experience, then move on to the real money.

look at the positive side, at least you dont have to get up early in the morning. that sucks. and you have time to train and frequent titty bars.

I've been doing that for much to long now my friend!! but it sure is fun to just fuck around. i do have a job now, and actually i work about 50 hours a week, but it's not in my field so it's gonna get me no where!!!

School doesn't mean shit. Know all of those jobs you got offered with "do they really expect me to take this" pay? That's experience - take 'em and in a year or two you'll have a respectable job. In 5 you'll probably be able to make up for the lost time of school.

Yep... you (I've been waiting to use this quote for days) dropped $150k on an education you could have gotten from $2.50 in late fees at the public library.

Don't feel bad... I'm doing it too and will be through in the Spring, but I'm busting my balls now to work in the mean time so I can have experience when I'm through.

Don't be little your schooling, it will come in handy some day. Jobs are scarce these days do not worry something will come along. Are you in Massachusetts? The job market is hard there with all the colleges and all the kids coming out looking for jobs at the same time. I just heard about Phfizer (spelling?) they offer jobs to people with not much experience but you have to pass their hard core training. Keep looking not get discouraged, I worked at a gym and contruction until I got my advertising job. It will work out for you. Look on monster.com, hotjobs.com, careerpath.com you will find something, buddy!! Good luck. Tell me where your at and I will keep my eyes open for ya.

Vb, your a good guy dude!!! Anyway, I live in CT now, but I'm originally from MA. I've sent my resume to Pfizer, and about 20 other Pharma Company's in my area. I see that you list yourself as being in LA. My goal is to move out to San Diego in about 5 years, there's so many Pharma jobs out there it's ridiculous. But I wanna wait till my son gets into junior high before I make such a big move.(he lives with his mother) At this point I would take anything, but like you said, jobs are hard to come buy here. Well, I'll keep plugging.

On a different note, should be a good game this week between the Pats and the Fish. And the Bills and Raiders. Of course I still route for Bledsoe, plus he's my QB in fantasy football. Ok, late!!!

Total would've been around 150K. I went to a private school in CT, but luckily I got a shit ton of aid, so I only owe about 35k to date, but it still sucks. I got fucking ass raped. It's amazing how college's can charge so much!!!

It's a fucked up world we live in! I should've just got any shitty job like 2 of my friends did out of high school. Now they make more money then I thought possible. It's fucked up man!!!

Every job i've applied to in my profession has asked for experience but never a degree. School taught me the basics yet i had to learn how to excell on my own. After getting my BA i do realize school was a waste of time. It's been 2 years i've been out of school and have learned more in these 2 years then the last 14.

Instead of school we should just get highered by companies at the age of 14 and whoever succeeds in learning their trade and becomes efficient gets to keep their job. Not only that but by the age of 20 they will already have 6 years experience and will be sound financially. On the job training is the way to go!

That's why I'm attending a local university. My tuition and books are fully paid by scholarship, but even if I had to pay every penny, it would have cost me only barely $12k... maybe even less considering the fact that I skipped a year due to HS credits. I could have gone to any of those BS "elite schools," but why am I going to waste my time going to an "elite school" to get the same education (i.e. none) that I would get at an "average school" and find myself with a debt that exceeds my starting annual salary by a factor of 3 or 4?

I've said it once and I'll always say it - education and government are the two most successful businesses in history that will never die for one good reason: they operate by coercion, that is, a voluntary exchange of goods by means of equivalent monetary compensation that is mutually agreed upon prior to the transaction NEVER takes place.

Warik, your no dummy, that's for shizza!! If I ever make it down to miami, we should hang out and discuss business opportunities!!! You seem like one fart smeller!!! Oh, I mean one smart feller!!!

Some people think that attending certain "big name" universities would look good on C.V.

well, to make a long story short and not devalge to much info, i was supposed to go into the Medical field, and the university i went to offered the whole package, but once I got my B.S., there was no way I could handle another 4 years of college. I learned everything the hardway, as usual!!! I hope this makes it a little more clearer.

Cure, this was no big name school, but it was expensive as hell!!!

What profession are you in?

Start working at 14? You have to work until you die, so at least enjoy a few years enlightening your mind.

The university makes a huge difference in several professions. If you are just learning skills, like computer programming, then most colleges will do. On the other hand, business degrees and other types of professional degrees are more influenced by the school's name.

Still, many of the good jobs require at least a bachelor's. I have to get my master's now in order to get a decent research job. i'll probably be in school until i'm dead.

Multimedia...

Point is that when you start at 14 your not actually working but training...along the lines of going to school...also if you start working at 16 certain companies let you retire after 30 years so that would make you only 46!! HMMM..46 and have money to retire or 65, grumpy and hardly able to walk....

Still, you'll have to work doubly hard to make up for the lack of knowledge that would be gained by finishing HS and getting a BS/BA. Especially if your field involves math that is not as trivial as math for dummies. It's harder than most people think to learn advanced calculus, combinatorics and so forth. most good science jobs require that knowledge.

In my field you will get low paying jobs unless you have a doctorate (psychology), you'll make decent money with a masters but the most you can do with that is be a college professor or a therapist...I'm going for my PsyD. which means I'll be in school throughout my 20s and be in an assload of debt by the time I'm done...but sometimes the years and years of being in school pay off when you're done...you'll have way more opportunities if you go back and get your masters or even a doctorate, work on getting an internship or take that shit paying job while you're in school (if you decide to go back), that way you'll be gaining experience both in school and on the job.

No, i agree with going to high school and learning the fundamentals but college IMO is a waste. On the job training is alot more effective then 6-7 years of University. Not all fields are the same but for me 3 years in Comp Science and Multimedia taught me the basics. I went out and got a job working as a designer and made ok money but what i learned on the job (in 6 months) was more than i learned in 3 years in school.

I also ended up quiting my job after 1 year and opening up my own business since i made many contacts which i never made wasting my time sitting in a classroom.

That's pretty much what I want to do. I'm one of those people that can't stand being told what to do, I have to be my own boss!!!
