Figure/Fitness/BB competitors. Let's talk about Beautifying for competition.

For BB - I *really* suggest having your hair above your shoulders period. No time for flips.

Pam - depends on the show - I've been at really quality shows where the expeditors have towel mitts already sprayed down w/ Pam and they pat you down. I've also been to shows that have nothing set up for anything like this. In that case Almond Oil is actually pretty nice. -- Definitely check w/ the promoter to see what, if anything, they will have set up, but bring your own anyway.

yep. hair up. I can't stand having my hair down and being sweaty at the same time.

Helps if there's no A/C either!! bleh!

Well I had a lot of input for my show as to what to do... Let me dig my notes up here....

So some Figure competitor info:

This is some per Shadow's recommendations, and the girls' here, and some of my friends'

-2 weeks out started exfoliating and applying aloe vera gel. Make sure you exfoliate all parts thoroughly. For some reason I must have not been very good on my right inner thigh because the protan would not take as well and the skin was a bit flakey. So all skin off!!!!
-7 days out stop tanning
-I full body waxed 3 days before. Make sure there is enough time to let the skin calm down before pro tan application. Most painful thing I did in my whole life. You're already on edge from the dieting down and emotions are already high... the try and have somebody rip all your hair out when there is no fat to cushion the blow. Agree with Miss 24 = BLOWS I will do partial waxing next time around....
-2 weeks out I did a over the counter teeth whitener
-2 weeks out I recommend for dying the hair if you are a red head just because you'll want to go darker then you can shampoo the color to where you need it to be for the show day.
-Sleep and naps were my best friend for both beauty, and mood enhancement!!
-Played with hair quite a bit out from my show so I could take a poll as to what would look best.
-Picked jewelry out to match suits
-Practiced walking more like I lacked in posing in those heels, but do break them in
-nails done after protan, well I had them on and someone else did my last coat I just put like petroleum jelly on them so they didn't get stained.
-Definitely practice make-up and hair before show WITH nails!!!!! You may practice without theose babies but once they are on it takes some talent to not only get used to having them on, but putting fake lashes on without poking youreyeball out!!! Also there are some really cool fakies with little rhinestones on them they looked sweet on this girl I did up.
-Agreed with SuperQT about the MAC. I bought the darkest brand they had for my friend's show. I had to put a ton of lotion on her face because it was SOOO dry and then mix lotion in with the foundation and a tiny bit of protan to blend the color out and it matched beautifully!
-Also love Mac's liquid gel line for eyeliner, that stuff works wonders and looks very intense on, but natural on stage.
-Hair.... Well I prefer to work with dirty hair over clean hair. It definitely holds the style better then clean hair. I like using hot rollers letting them cool to the touch, then applying some hair spray putting the hair up, pinning it whichever way 'it' wants to play, and spraying again. Nothing worse then fighting with hair, and it will stay a LOT longer if you go with it's natural tendancies. My friend's stayed all day and night out at the club dancing..
-And finally SMILE. This was one of the hardest things for me. you don't realize how many other things you are focusing on on that stage.. that the smile is the first to leave when you are concentrating on making sure that: quad is flexed, abs are tight, shoulders tight but not earrings, lats flared, delts hard, forearms relaxed, breathing, eye contact with the judges, and then the posing overall... Lots going on so practice way in advance!!!!
HAVE FUN

P.S. bring baby wipes to the show because it is discusting having PAM all over and walking around like a buttered turkey!!

If you're doign your own makeup - get someone at the MAC counter who has experience doing stage makeup to do it so it looks good on stage & not good in normal lighting & washed out under the lights.

Believe me.... I will NEVER, NEVER, NEVER do that again!!! I think I even posted that in my log :lmao: I can handle most of it like arms, face. Not legs, and arm pits I could do again if I did it like starting now and let the hair thin back out because it's actually not bad once the hair texture changes.... but boy that first time is like meeting God!!!!
