Your protection from the Feds shouln't rely on your emails being in a non-subpeona friendly country. Rather your encryption mechanism shouldn't allow them to decrypt it by getting your passphrase from your provider.

*IF* what this guy is saying is true, that HM is capturing your passphrase, that's the problem - not where their servers are located.

But if Hushmail was lcoated in Russia for example or Tanzania lol, that wouldnt be an issue at all.

Not if what that article says is true. It claims you are passing your passphrase to hushmail which means that the feds could in theory capture that, and then decrypt the messages that are captured while in transit.

Really, our political powers of persuasion reach deep in Russia as well - perhaps Tanzania. The RIAA reached over into Russia via Political pressures and shutdown allofmp3.com. Our political power just caused China to shutdown raw steroid powder factories or the owners would face death.

Nothing is out of reach.

Use Open PGP at your desktop, take any 'provider' out of the loop completely. Then all you have to worry about is the feds installing keyloggers or cameras in your house. LOL...
