fatburners

"I'm also writing on ephedra & it's SCARY what I"m finding."

Start getting your facts from well controlled studies published in peer-reviewed journals rather than lay material and govt websites. You'll find the facts much less scary. Doesn't mean EPH is safe nor that it won't cause life threatening sides in someone with preexisting disease, but it will bring the issue into perspective.

Also, leave the aspirin component out. Just EPH and Caf.

ephedrine is relatively safe.. more so than most diet pills and otc drugs..

ephedra on the other hand.. not so much so.. and with much higher incidence of unpleasant sides..

I like ephedra based products myself. I prefer them over the one's that use citrus aurantium in their formula. If you want a little kick without the ephedrine, there's a product(and yes, it's available in Canada) called T-2. It's pretty good for a little kick. It is a fat burner as well. It's main ingredients are Citrus Aurantium(Bitter Orange Extract), Ginseng and Caffeine. it also has Ginger Root and Cayenne it is as well. It's a good alternative for those of you that don't like ephedrine.

Any kind of "thermogenic" fatburner or any kind of stimulant in general is really bad for your heart in the long run. Much worse than smoking. I try to avoid taking anything of the sort, even coffee or caffeinated tea, unless I am going out at night and I need to stay awake. After taking 2 or 3 xenadrines the night before, my heart races the following day.

Doing 15 extra minutes of cardio exercise a day probably has the same effect as taking these diet pills and will benefit, rather than harm your heart.

I think MOST people over estimate the benfits of E+C combos for fatloss. Take that research paper MR BMJ posted-the investigators found a 'significant' increase in fatloss for those taking the herbal combo. But reading the bottom line, after 6 months of diet and exercise the difference in fatloss between those taking the diet pills and those that weren't was only 2.2 kg on average. That's an extra 0.2 lbs per week lost by taking diet pills. Bottom line is still to get your diet and training in order first and foremost. The pills ain't gonna do shit by themselves, except maybe make you feel a little better.

I have never used ECA as a 'fat burner' as such.I always use it to give me a little extra kick during periods of intense training such as before a comp. when I nee d the extra boost. I do also take the odd ECA dose before going out clubbing.

I mainly use it to curb my appetite when I'm in pre-comp kcaloric restriction mode. It also gives you an extra little boost at the gym, but I care much more about not wanting to eat everything in sight...

Again, ephedrine hcl won't give you the same degree of sides as ephedra. Just don't over-dose the stuff.
