family/friends ripping on you cuz of your diet?

Last weekend my mother-in-law came over to look after the kids for a while and brought some chocolate pastry things for a snack. Well...she asked me if I would like one and I replied "No thanks, I'm on a diet" to which she said "You don't really need to loose weight do you?" I said "No, I'm not on a diet to loose weight, I'm on a diet to GAIN weight". Talk about confusing someone, I loved the look of complete confusion :confused: on her face.

PS - This was not to put down my mother-in-law, she is a great lady.
 
My family is really supportive of my diet. They think it's great that I'm doing something so good for myself. My coworkers on the other hand give me nothing but shit over my choice in food. We get donuts and cookies brought into work at least 3 days a week. I decline on that and they jump all over me telling me I'm thin enough and that I don't need to lose weight. I'm tyring to explain that it's more of a lifestyle choice rather than a "diet". I'm trying to put on weight while losing bf. They don't get it.

My roommate in college always thought I was nuts for drinking close to a liter of water every night before bed. If she had any after about 7 she'd be in the bathroom all night. I find that if I don't drink all that water, I'm up half the night in the kitchen drinking it.

Overall though, I don't value the dietary advise of people with weight problems. If an impressive looking BBer was giving my diet advise, I'd actually care.

EXACTLY - I run into this on a daily basis!!!!
 
I went from a size 10 to a size 2 in a year in a half, perfectly healthy. I am only 5 ft!! My family accuses me of anorexia, bulimia and my BF (Natedogg) of starving me. The "gym-thing" is considered OCD. Then when I show them my cut abs and flex my bi's I get "EWW, gross". You can't win, but I know I look good and they are all overweight, unhealthy with their chik nuggets, and JEALOUS!!
I say ROCK ON to all you with the willpower and stay pumoed. A diet isn't a means to lose weight, it is a way to get the look you want and a strategic way of eating. You all go on with ya bad selves!!

I heard that for years.. :confused:

Expecially at work!! Eating tuna out of
a can, will get you some strange looks.. :FRlol:
Then always carring a gal. of water everywhere you go; doesn't
help either... :rolleyes:

But then the back side is, they'er always wondering
what you do and what you eat to get into shape!!

You try and help them and you know the look on there
faces, there not going to change there eating habits..or
there excercise habits.


I've found the best way to handle it is to have someone that
eat's the same way... :)

You will learn to ignore all the comments.... :think:

LMAO I get the same thing. I have one cupboard in our kitchen where I keep all my cans of tuna, protein shake mix, and all that fun stuff. And the mass quantities of egg white in the fridge and frozen chix in the freezer. I'm constantly getting ripped on by the roomies. At least I don't have to worry about them stealing junk food from me or anything like that!

My family thinks I'm bulimic because every time I go home there is less fat on my body, yet I'm constantly eating as opposed to starving myself like I used to. Like I would spend money on food just to puke it up.
 
One time I was at a girlfriend's summer place and her parents offered me a bratwurst and expected me to eat it while I was on a cutting diet. I felt bad so I ate it. I felt more bad when I did eat it. Bad food sucks.
