Prior to his national Golden Gloves competition in Salt Lake City, photographer Johannes Kirn profiled Tsarnaev in a photo essay entitled “Will Box For Passport,” quoting the young boxer as saying that he is a ”very religious” Muslim, which prevents him from drinking, smoking or removing his shirt around women, and that he cares deeply about the independence of Chechnya from Russia.

“I don’t have a single American friend. I don’t understand them,” Tsarnaev told Kirn.

This. Nows the time for collecting dots. Lets start connecting dots once we actually, I dont know, gather some factual data. Seems like these kids were raised secular and then converted as teens? When you have your family (uncles, etc) saying you dont deserve to live for this it doesnt sound like they were raised this way.

Your need to categorize and vilify large swaths of the population is counter-productive and part of the reason why we have so much trouble finding common ground as a country.

Its small minded to think that extremist of any group is the representative of the entire group. I especially like it when this thought process comes from people that don't travel anywhere or have never studied theology or hell, have never even bothered to look into the religion they're vilifying on google..just repeat what they're spoon fed by a sensationalizing media with its own agenda.

I also want (in an ideal world) folks in this country to be well read enough that they understand there's a pretty significant difference between a shia and sunni Muslim. You and other retards know them both as "terrorists," but those of us who arent willfully ignorant know that the latter represent 99% of the actual militant mooslims in the world. The fact that these kids were apparently the former (and proud of it given the videos on their respective youtube channels) raises a few questions.

Of course, now that we have one of them alive, he could simply say he was following his interpretation of his mooslim faith. For those of us who dont see the world in black and white, that would be interesting to say the least.

well i don't have a theological PHD and i have only traveled to a handful of foreign countries but...
imo it's small minded to try to justify bombing a marathon via the crusades.
and i'm guessing you know little about the event (saladin, richard the lion heart, the papal bull that provided an indulgence for going,etc) other than it was white people hurting innocent muslims just minding their own business and loving thy neighbor
