FreeballinDC said:40 here. It's good to know that lifting doesn't stop at 35 <G>.
Where should we start?
ripper7 said:Just turned 40 last september, still at it, 22 years and counting.
strongsmartsexy said:There are just SO many places to start. I know I can't eat NEARLY what I could at a much younger age. It's not like I can eat a box of powdered donuts just before a workout and not gain a pound any more. All I have to do now it just walk by those damn things and they attach themselves to my waist like leeches on a leg.
FreeballinDC said:LOL, don't tell me that's what you used to do. I take it your pre workout meal has changed.
If you could go back and correct anything workout related in your past, what would it be, and how would it help now?
strongsmartsexy said:Top 10 things I'd change:
1 - Diet
2 - Diet
3 - Diet
4 - Not so much booze
5 - More protein
6 - Diet
7 - Diet
8 - Diet
9 - Diet
10 - Diet
FreeballinDC said:LOL, so when did you figure it out?

benevolent anarchist said:Hello my geritol drinking brothers.I turned 43 in May. I did my first cycle in 1984 and did a few more right after that and then stepped away from it for a while until my mid-thirties. I was married for the first time 2 years ago to my then 23 year old wife. I am feeling good, I am in superb condition, and I am loving this part of my life. Good to have a board like this.
Dave949 said:I`ll be 48 this coming October. Been at it consistently since 1982. All natural. Never did any AAS. Not many changes to my workouts except my muscular endurance is not what it used to be so my workouts now are short and intense. I workout every other day. Still doing all the big daddy lifts. I don`t do 1 reps maxes anymore either. Haven`t done ORM`s in about 10 years. Whats the point. I don`t squat with 300 or dead with 400 anymore either. Too tought on my joints. About the highest I go with squats is 250/275 for reps and 350 on deads for reps. What amazes me is that I can still do dips and bottom out at every rep. Recuping from a workout takes a lil longer these days. Avatar pic was taken 4 months ago.
So this is where us old farts go now eh !!!
count me in

strongsmartsexy said:That's the attitude. I figure I can rest when I'm dead.
sportjuicer said:That's true..I started working out late in life, but have a body now that I never thought possible, six pack and all!! Not bad for a 46 yr old..
Hey strongsmartsexy I would like to email you if possible? mine is [email protected]

Welcome to the board! Now that you know about it, you can help contribute to it.Mr. dB said:Sorry, I only just found this forum and thread. I turned 48 a few weeks ago. My joints are not particularly creaky yet, but I do need my recovery time and the occasional week off.
Longhorn85 said:Hey SSS, I didn't know this board was here, guess I've spent too much time arguing politics lately.
I am 43 as of 29 Jan. I've been working out since I was a pre-teen and continue to get stronger and bigger, but slower too. As a 19-yr Career Army Officer I get to "keep up with the young folk" on a daily basis.
I've had some "firsts" since turning 40. My first boxing match came at 41. I've fathered two children since 40 (not firsts, but good to know the system still works.)
I recently signed up for some more boxing, the gym coach looked at me like I was crazy when I showed up.
Would like to do a triathlon someday.

It only gets better from here!ChefWide said:40 last august and just getting started....

Sassy69 said:Thx Ed! I keep in my mind that age = maturity + experience. Physical aging is a state of mind as well, but the maturity aspect means that I can be more intelligent in how I treat my body so it doesn't get beat up and start hindering my mental "age". The only thing I sort of regret w/ age is my intolerance for the idiocy (oK, lack of maturity) of people under 30. That's a broad stroke I am painting with here and there are shining exceptions, but generally, I just can't deal w/ the under 30 crowd and I probably come across as a complete ass, but I'm soooo done being the babysitter who doesn't get paid....
My main problem is coming to terms with how much fat and water I've actually accumulated over the last 5 years and it wasn't until I've seen how hard it is to shift this time that I've realised age must be playing a part. But the fight goes on....
