Estimating Salad Dressing

How does everyone do it? When your eating a salad with lets say an Italian vinaigrette, even if you know the nutrition facts for the dressing how do you know how much you've had? I try my best to guess, but even if I poor the dressing on the salad itself it is still hard because some of it gets pooled at the bottom. Please help!

Thanks much,
Michael

Don't over think it. Measure it out using whatever the serving size is, usually 2 table spoons. Count the whole thing and whatever is left over is left over

Unless you are competeing, I would not worry about estimating exact numbers, there are better choices for dressings, fat free's which have less cals, but they are still heavy on the belly.

The guys above are right, if it looks like you are eating more dressing than salad, rethink the meal.

I don't think its necessarily that, I think its more along the lines of this scenario:

Buddybot puts 4 Tablespoons of dressing on his salad, at the end of eating his salad maybe two teaspoons worth is floating around, how do you account for the calories in those 2 teaspoons you didn't eat.

The answer is you don't, just count it and whatever you didn't consume don't sweat it. You would probably burn it off in brain power trying to calculate it anyway...dip your chicken in it or throw it out but just count the 4 tablespoons total and don't over think it and try to calculate every little calorie.

Now if Buddybot is putting 10 tablespoons of dressing on his salad and at the end he has a pool of mabye 5 tablespoons worth thats a different scenario. I am assuming he is using this in moderation and going with my first scenario that he is worried about calculating such a small amount it isn't worth the effort.

stop being a cookie..

salt, pepper, lemon.. eat up..

i'm with tdoom1.. I squirt some dressing in my salad, add some lemon to it, shake it up and usually end up with a good amount I don't consume. . I just don't bother counting those calories..

make sure your LITE dressing doesn't have High Fructose Corn Sizzzzurp.
