Ok here's the deal. My wife brought a 16 yr old girl home from a shelter and wanted to take legal custody of her. We have no natural kids of our own so we took her. Well I am a very private, set in my ways kind of guy and don't really open up to anyone. Well this girl has wrapped me around her little finger. LOL

Here's my question. I spent some time with my little girl last week and as we talked I explained why I was always in her business, wanted to approve of her friends and where she is all the time. I was telling her it was because I would hate to get a call in the middle of the night telling me she has been killed or something. It was then that I felt this wave of emotion come over me thinking about something bad happening to her. I started to tear up really bad and still do every time I tell the story. I am right now! LOL

My wife is trippin and wondering what's wrong with me. She said it is the juice that has me all emotional but I don't think so. I think it took this little girl to melt this cold heart!

Its called caring... Good for you.. You should love her like she was your own.. it does my heart proud to know wonderful people such as yourself and your wife are there for her.. Im very proud of you... Have a great Day

I think the fact that you get choked-up every time you think about something bad happening to her just means (1) thing.....

My wife asked me the other day if my gear was making me emotional. I said, I don't think so, but I dunno...maybe it does a lil....fuck if i know

I think it is awesome you have taken in this girl and I wish her and you the best. Continue on this path and she is going to grow up to be something special. :)

So others experience this as well? I know its kinda funny for the man to be all emotional, but seriously...is this common?

Its not like bawling your eyes out because of some commercial on tv..its more like lil comments or actions that you pry would normally pay attention to get to you more than normal?

I've noticed this a lil bit lately, and thought maybe I was just having male pms or something. LOL

16 year old isnt exactly a little girl lol. What a wierd age to out of the blue adopt someone but if it works it works.
 
it's not unusual to have nightmares and/or quickly-passing thoughts about harm happening to your children. And yes, it's normal for them to generat very strong feelings as well.

Now if the thoughts become difficult to avoid or begin to preoccupy your thoughts, you mght be in trouble.
 
Thanks for all the comments guys it really encourages me! Her mom had her living with her in a crack/rehab shelter and it was aweful so we decided enough is enough and got the mom to sign her over!

BTW I don't take clomid! LOL
 
sounds like the normal range of human emotion bro... unless you're on clomid ;)
 
If you're post cycle and running clomid it may evry well be amplifying your emotions. Also if you're on cycle and not running an AI it could be attributing to it as well. Running some dex or aromasin in either instance will help you. Or maybe you just really care.
I'll keep the bad bro material to myself :( lol

Good on you Pappad. I couldn't imagine having a daughter, I'd be way too over-protective and probably ruin the poor girls life. I have a sister and have over stepped my bounds; while I've worked on this quite well over the years, my mom still won't tell me if my sis is dating and who she's dating..

has moved in with us. his mom committed suicide when he was 5 and his dad turned to drugs and booze.
 
btw don't pay any attention to puddlemonkeys comments. he's moved several 16 year old boys into his home.

he told the authorities he was "helping them"

It has become the most fulfilling thing I have ever done!

We have had 2 boys live with us. One meved out a few months ago and the other is getting married soon and will move out. But there is something different about a girl. They wraap you around that little finger and it's OVER!
 
So when is it bad for a manly man to get emotional over kids? I get choked up over kids, my family, and the loss of our service members. I can't hardly go to some of the Vet's Day or Memorial Day events. It's just how it is. Caring about people other than yourself is a good thing.
