Elbow Pain

To those that have elbow pain....Do you know which exercise contributed to it the most and what are you doing to relieve or fix the pain?

I have no idea if this will help or not, but about eight months ago I tore a tendon in my bicep. The result was a lot of pain in my elbow. The doc said that I was overtraining my biceps, although that was not actually what caused the injury.

There was not a whole lot I was able to do for the pain other than the normal stuff; aspirin and staying off it for a while. Mostly I just had to wait it out.

If it's really hurting you, I'd suggest seeing a doctor. And, to bring you down even more (sorry), the rehab process can be extremely slow. After eight months, I have about 75% strength back and still feel some pain when i do bis.

Again, there's no way to know if this is the same thing you have. It could be tendonitis, tennis elbow, who knows. Take this for what it's worth and go see the doc.

It would seem to me that you are in the beginning stages of developing tennis elbow or tendonitis.
My advice to you would be to seek out a massage therapist who is a sports injury specialist that practices myofacial release.
Having been there and after seeing a physiotherapist who only used ultra-sound and pressure point therapy... go spend the extra money and see a good massage therapist... that means stay away from the rub and tugs (if you get my drift)...
The massage therapist who practices myofacial release will likely only see you once per week and you will notice the relief almost immediately... I have done the same with my back problem and it is nothing short of amazing.... because I have spent literally thousands of dollars on Chiropractors with zero results... don't get me wrong Chiropractors do work only if there is damage to skeletal structure whereas the massage therapists work on the soft tissue which seems to be your case.

The pain started 2 months ago when I finally decided to add side laterals. Anyway I layed of 2 weeks and stop the side laterals and both elbows are 50% better, but still some pain (mostly when I grab things with my dump holding on tight). Maybe I will elimanate skull crushers for a few weeks and see if this helps. Thank for all of the inputs.

:)

I know this thread's a little old... but I've been haveing elbow probs too. For years now, actually. Doctor said it is probably "golfer's elbow," which is on the inside of the elbow. Anyway, he told me to do wrist curls with a 5 lb weight and I'm takeing Viox and celebrex which is like an anti-inflamatory. My elbow just keeps me from doin anything involving the triceps which really screws up my arm excersizes... :/

I had the same problem last spring, my elbow started to hurt and nothing could relieve the pain. Then I got drunk one weekend and decided to armwrestle with a friend, my elbow was totally f*cked up. :bawling:

Anyway, the doc said something about the joint having a protective layer and it had been damaged by rapid strength improvement and working out wrong at the same time, the armwrestling was the last straw. I couldn´t do anything ecxept legs and cardio for 8weeks, and I was supposed to be cutting.

You should look up your routine and go light on the excercises that hurt and try figuring out what your doing wrong, the other option is to rest until the pain is gone.

usual problem is that the muscles can handle more weight than the tendons and you end up with tendonitis. Stretch. It helps tremendously. Ask a trainer or massage guy to show you how to stretch your elbows/tris for that kind of problem; it usually takes somone to help you out with the stretch for it to be effective.

Don't do lateral raises even to a parallel. It's not necessary. Go to just below parallel.
