elbow pain!

Does anyone experience this, and if so have you been able to treat it effectively, or recover from it fully.
I have been benching heavy for years, in the 405 to 455 range for reps, 2 months ago I felt pain shortly after trying to do a heavy single with 495. My tendons were not ready for that weight, and now I'm paying the price.
I'm currently using a high dose of glucosamine sulfate, chondroiton sulfate, and MSM, in additon to aspercreme; it seems to be helping a little. It's amazing that my strength is still improving although I am training lighter (in the 10-15 rep range)
Any suggestions for treatment? Do you I need to stop all pressing movements for it to recover fully?
Thanks!

I have a bodybuilding book from the 80's and it talks about dealing with elbow pain.

First, always warm up your elbows with a few sets of 15 reps of push downs with very light weight. This is just to saturate the elbow with blood and also warm up all the tendons and ligaments in there.

This has helped me come back from an elbow/triceps injury.

The book also mentions applying ice after a workout for 15 minutes or so to reduce the inflamation. The problem with this is that there is a new school of thought that says inflamation is part of the healing process and that eliminating it with ice or anti-inflamatories would be counter productive.

I am against anti-inflamatories but I have had great results with ice when dealing with my elbow/triceps injury.
