Eating more when weather is cold

Have you ever noticed that during summer time you are not like eating, and when the cold times come, you get more and more hungry. Not only that – you feel like eating more greesy foods. Do you think that body will use up those extra calories, or this is just something more instinctive? If it is just an instinct, how can you reduce that hunger?

Perhaps your body will burn a bit more of calories in order to keep itself warm, but I really doubt that the difference in calories will be even close to a significant amount. So my assumption is that it is more of an instinct thing. The best thing you can do, is eat more soups. They are liquid, so they will take up more volume in the stomach with less calories, hence making you feel fuller. Besides, they keep warmth better, so they will warm you up, and reduce the hunger.

You see Steve, everything is just the same - I am very pedantic with food, so I eat the same stuff all the time...animal of a habbit ) But whenever it becomes colder, I feel more like eating. This is what got me surprised.

It's nature. If it didn't happen we'd have died out as a species. It's simple.
1) It takes energy to keep up our body heat when it's cold
2) Fat acts as an insulator
3) You use more energy doing normal activities when it's cold.
