Eating Frequency ? ?

I am using the CKD to bulk. So far I have lost about 1 pound of fat in three weeks and gained a pound of muscle. It is awesome! Does anyone have any comments on eating frequency? I eat 7 or 8 meals a day of about 400-500 calories during the no/low carb phase. I am eating every 2 hours becasue I am STARVING. I started eating about 2700 calories a day. I am now up to 3100 becasue I am adding 200 a week. Some days I can only eat every 3-3 1/2 hours because of my school schedule. On those days I feel so lean it is unbelievable. My goal is to build muscle without much fat so I am not sure on the frequency. Any cooments would be welcomed. later

CKD to bulk?

LOL!

I hear many trying this, but it really makes no sense if you truly understand how a muscle gets stimulated for growth, gets prepped for growth after a workout, and how it grows w/ a positive nitrogen balance over the week as the final step.

1) what are your stats?
2) are you doing a 2 day carb-up?
3) during the week are you using an anabolic diet style food intake?

Here is what I do each week. Sunday through Friday around 3 I eat around 60-70% fat and rest protien with about 10-15 carbs daily from the cheese and a little whey. I am adding 200 calories per week, I am now up to 3200 a day. I do cardio 30 minutes per day 4-5 days a week and I do a moderate upper body workout Tuesday and moderate lower body Wednsday. On Friday at 3:00 I do a grueling 50 minute cardio session to deplete, wait 1 hour then start carbing with high gi then taper to low gi until I go to bed. Usually 500 or carbs with about 1 1/2 grams of r-ala and hca. The high gi is from cereal and syrup for pancakes and a few "cheat" granola bars or a little low fat ice cream. Saturday morning I am back to the CKD. 3 meals then do the same thing as Friday. 3:00 cardio, wait 1 hour and start the carb up with only yams, oatmeal, oatbran and end the day with a nature valley no fructose granola bar or 2. That day is around 300-400 carbs. The intense heavy workouts are on Satruday morning and Sunday morning. I wake up Sunday and back to the CKD with the heavy workout and a sprint heavy bag session for 40 minutes at night and 20 minutes bike after the weights. I have done this for 4 weeks and I increase the poundage on my weights every single week. It is awesome. I feel I am getting so strong and my endurance is through the roof. I feel that on Friday and Saturday that my cardio eliminates all the food I had in the morning and mid afternoon and then my body state when I carb up is just so juiced it sucks it all in. I have NEVER felt this strong in my life. I have veins popping out of my forehead and calves. I never thought it was possible but I think I am losing fat and gaining muscle at the same time. I have never been on roids, nor will I ever. I use to weigh 290 pounds. That is why I do so much cardio. I am stuck in the middle of losing the rest of my lower belly and wanting to get bigger so this paln will have to do for some time. I never set out to do anything other than for myself but I will tell you what, the chicks are loving my look. I am starting to look like a middleweight boxer. I am currently almost 6 foot tall and around 180 pounds. It is hard to judge my body fat becasue I have some loose skin but with the calipers I figure around 11 or 12 % body fat. My meals are 2 hours apart and I eat 600 calories for breakfast, 600 for dinnner and 400 for the other 5 meals of the day. Food is beef, bacon, sausage, a couple shakes (becasue with ice, stevia, and some flax it tastes like a damn dairy queen). I also eat peppironi, little bit of cheese, falx and sallflower oil. I do not measure my fat/protien intake. I just make sure that with every meal I get 10-20 more fat grams that protien, ex...Shake. 1 scoop whey and 2 1/2 tbs. flax or sallflower. That is it. Kind of tough but if you get used to it you will conquer the world, lol. later

You'r plan looks good. You need more green veggies on your low carb days, and more fat on your carb up days. Ignore SC on this one, he has alot of knowledge and I respect alot of what he has to say. None-the-less I think he has failed to see the anabolic potential of a high cal CKD. I've gained 31 ibs in the last 6 weeks on a CKD and most of it isn't water from the steroids, because I used test prop for the first 3 weeks, then came of the test and ran tren/eq/winstrol after that, and put on 6 more ibs after ending the test prop, after in initial loss of a few ibs. I do think I put on a few ibs of body fat though, from my high caloric intake, but still I gain ALOT more muscle than fat, which is not the case on a high carb bulk for me. So, for me this experiment has been a sucess. I haven't gain this much bodyweight this fast with the exception of my first bulking cycle, where I went from 8% bf to 20% in 8 weeks.

Great, I thought I might be doing something wrong. I feel better than I have for a year or so. I am a little tired on the second day after the carb up but it might be ketosis kicking in or something. Is it important to be in ketosis during the CKD bulking low carb phase or is it just important to eat real low carbs. I only ask becasue the days I get 15 or so from eggs, cheese or cream, I am scared to eat my spinach becasue of te carbs. I am also getting 15 grams of carbs (fiber) from Psyllium Hisks. I get a scoop in the morn and 2 at night. I can eat up to 3 cans of spinach a day, I love that stuff. Will it kick me out of ketosis? My mother worries I am doing too much cardio but I told her it made me feel good. What do you think "body". Should my carb up days have alot more calories than my low carb days. With my hard workout and cardio on carb up days, I might only be taking in around 3000 calories or less becasue I am burning up around 12-1400. Thanks for the reply body.

If that's working for you - great. However, cardio/workouts and carb-ups should not be mixed due to the muscle tearage that occurs and the feasibility of creating anabolism with muscle groups that are not fully recovered - not possible.

You need to limit your workouts to Mon-Wed, Cardio: Thur/Fri and carb-up w/o any workouts or cardio sat/sun and friday night. Rethink your strategy, for the diet will most likely stop working when your body hits a thyroid plateau.

LOL!!!!!!! He said to ignore me......

If your CKD bulking diet works for you, that's fine. However, to build muscle QUICKER and to not suffer from over-training and all the mis-haps Mr. X described, there truly is a far better way! If this works for you, you are one of VERY few, and you do not represent the greater population when it comes to a diet one needs to gain quality mass. No one said it had to be a HIGH CARB bulk either, I think we all know carbs DON'T directly build muscle tissue, however they are a key to enhancing growth, that's for damn sure. You cannot get this advantage from protein and fat.
I won't bicker you do what you do, and I'll do what I do with myself and those that I coach/teach. :)

Then again, what do I know, I've only trained 1000's of people very successfully.

SC, we are all cool ;)

I would never ignore swole's advice....just a side note, I just had a client of mine turned over to SC for pre-comp and he's doing well ( I had to go out of town so could handle the load). SC has him down to 5% -that's RIGHT! - 5% bf.

Mr.X

Mr. X and Swole Cat, I was refer to him not ignoring SC completely, only his laughing at him for using a CKD to bulk. Its not unheard of, and works very well for alot of guys. Alot of Dr. DePasqual's clients seem to do very well on this type of eating plan. SC, wouldn't you say that his credientials are at least equal to your's? As I've already said, I'm familiar with who you are and respect your opinion on a number of matters. You have a good reputation as a pre-contest diet guru.

getbig, what are your stats? I just noticed that you are not eating many calories while trying to bulk. I start my cutting CKD diets on more calories than you are eating. I just finished bulking on around 5500 a day.
