Doxycycline anyone?

Have any of you guys used Doxycycline to clear up some test-acne? Specifically on my back and shoulders.. its not bad, but it's there.. my HRT doc gave me doxycycline, but I like to run all my info through you guys first.. :)

My doc gave me Doxycycline for rosacea. I get a little red around my nose during and after cycles. I do think it might help some with acne. It's not as strong as some other types of acne meds but it does clears hair follicle type irritations.

I used it and it worked well only side I had with it was I cant be in the sun for long periods of time. It will make you burn fast.

Right.. its either I go to the tanning booth 4 times a week, or I try this.. :(
what mg dose did he give u and how will u run it,i just ordered some myself and wanted to hear what ur doc said to do.thanks

i think tanning really just "hides" the acne, doesnt really clear it up (so i can still feel the nastieness on my back, and a few days later, you can see it again)....maybe it temporarily drys it out, but thats about it...for me at least.

i guess it really depends on how severe it is, i wouldnt even call mine "acne" its just one or two pimples...not a whole acne collony...the tanning dries mine up and they go away

pharmacist.

UV light doesnt just hide acne (although it does help make blemishes less prominent, and hide deeper active scarring from previous pimples) it actually reduces the number and severity of pimples/pustules. it is a real treatment.

also, doxy works well on some people.

dermatologicals are funny, you have to tweak and try a few things depending on the patient. some benefit greatly jsut with sun. others need an accutane. others need a moisturiser. most just need to wash their sheets more often.

your doc is definitely on the right track, you dont have much to lose, and lots to gain.
