Documentary "Walmart The high cost of low price"

they don't take care of employees

close down all the little guys in town

you should watch the movie you lazy ass

-then don't work there nobody forces a person to take a job at walmart ( i hate when peeps pluralize it)...they pay the legal minimal wage, don't put their employees into physical jeporady that i know of, and don't demand them to do immoral or illegal acts that i'm aware of...maybe partying and dropping out of high school isn't such a good idea afterall.
-that is certainly sad, happened in my hometown, but I don't blame walmart...this is America, you can open a business if you want to...i blame the customers (myself occassionaly) for seeking
out cheap and convient goods. wtf should happen, price fixing and laws against box stores??

the documentary is really interesting.

they say that even though we think we are paying less, we are actually paying more. most full-time employees at wal mart are also on welfare and other gov. agency programs. so our government using our tax dollars are supporting many wal mart employees

-welfare is paid out piece meal to those who don't work full time or have a shit load of kids and don't make enough, so a walmart employee collecting welfare (if that is true) is not clocking full time welfare payments, and thus saving the gov money if they would otherwise be collecting a full welfare payment if not for working at walmart.
-just think how many unemployed folks would be turned over to the welfare rolls full time if walmart up and closed
-these same folks would be collecting state/fed aid if not for walmart imo

2006 called and want their documentary back. I'm pretty sure a lot of their practices have since changed since the making of this ie fertilizer run off in parking lots, poor benefit packages for employees etc...

I do not shop there personally because I'm not a fan of how they do close down locally owned stores thus taking money out of the community. I fucking cannot stand the trash that place attracts too. I do pay a little bit more to shop here: http://www.thefreshmarket.com/Stores/store_locationsDetail.aspx?StoreId=84. It's like a local mini Whole Foods. I pay a little more but it weeds out the dirty people I don't like shopping next to.

I have a coworker whose sister works at Walmart and she was telling me about how great they're benefits/medical plans were so I dunno

I don't know about that. I have the absolute worst healthcare insurance I have ever seen right now. We just started it in January 2011, and the receptionist at my new doctors office asked me if I work at Wal-mart. She told me that the only other time she's ever seen my plan is from wal-mart employees.

btw, my plan allows me to pick a doctor in my network @ $30 co-pay for office visits, or travel to Mexico for any doctor @ $5 co-pay.
