Do you train with a partner or alone??

I go to the gym alone but always ask for a spot when doing heavy weight. I don't really like spending more time in the gym than I need too - partners usually double my workout time. Although - I get more competitive when lifting with friends.

I train alone, but I always ask for a spot when needed. I don't see any other reason to have someone else there. Unless you have alot of time to waste or are trying to help a friend get motivated. I also hate it when a I need a machine and there's 2 or more people on it wasting time and bullshittin

For the reasons already stated... usually alone.

I will tell you... working out is not the fun part of "getting there". I want to get in and get out in optimal time.

My best friend owns a gym across town and I do workout there with him some nights, for a change of pace, however. And I do tend to think I"m more competitive and i go heavier. But, my pace is not nearly as good standing around talking to them, waiting for my reps, etc..

:o

damn, i can't believe how many of you train alone, and think it's better!

i guess to each his own...

I won't hit a cycle unless i have someone to train with on the regular. I need someone there to push me more then i push myself as well as be able to spot me for almost every lift i do. It's hard to goto failure on each exercise without a spot there just in case.

Currently im training alone, and not only do i get less of a work out, it's fucking boring as hell.

It's good to have someone to work-out with as long as thier not stopping to look at women (for too long) . I worked out with a person when I need them but most of the time it's alone. It's good if the person pushes you to your limits but no further.

dork - when lifting alone you should try listening to your walkman - put in some music that makes you wanna kill people - you will push yourself.

I train alone right now, its a major pain in the ass to have a partner since I work nights, I have only found 2-3 people who work out just as hard wih the same devotion... I help some friends now but they get lazy and want to talk too mcuh and complain cause the excercises I do are hard. That's what I get for doing front squats, claen and jerks, deads and strict form with all lifts. Always have a spotter when i go heavy

I had a training partner for 2 years until he finally got a chick and dropped me like a cheap hore!

Hey Tommy... : :velvett: :doublefi: :licker:

I train with a partner. I don't condone much talking-try to stay real intense. Its good when you have a spot that is done right, so you can give it your all every set. When I ask random people to spot they always end up f-ing me up.
Training alone is good but when you have competition and a good spot you get more out of your workout.

exactly! I could not work with a partner because I like my MP3 player too much! The music gets you pumped!

I normally train alone but last night I trained with my buddy who is extreemly strong and pushed me harder than I would have pushed myself. Like when we were doing dips, I added a 45 pound plate around my waist and then we kind of tried to out rep each other. Same went on flat bench dumbells. He put up more weight last night than ever before because I had him pushing me. To bad he lives to far away. I would love to have a training partner but it is hard to find someone who trains like me and pushes themselves are hard as I do. I tried before with other people and they always quit by the end of the work out so for now I train alone.

Well I thought I was in the minority training alone but apparently not! I don't have any problem lifting intensly and feel that real concentration comes from within and needs no "partner" for encouragement. Although spots are helpful!

I lift with a partner whenever I can but its near impossible finding someone willing to go at the same time and stick with it. So most of the time I go alone :bawling:

I train alone now. Fast and Furious. Me against the Iron.

Training with the right partner can sure help. Nothing like a good consistent spot and someone who is a motivator. My training best training partner was lost to injury :bawling:

Alone....

It's a cold, cruel world out there. Nobody spots you in the real world. Heck, a few weeks back when I got pinned under some weight when my calves burned out, I screamed for help until I tasted blood before someone realized it wasn't my usual screams from training.

You are alone....so very alone. Train accordingly.

I'm sure a partner would but personaly I like to bump my walkman and just zone out and in between sets I just usually pase aroun.I just dont want to be bothered with another person during my workouts.but I do ask for spotters when needed. I just gram walking by at the time.

BWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA...guess you told him!

I train alone because I like to do my own thing at my own pace. It gets a little boring ay times, but I just ordered an MP3 player last night so that should help. The one reason I would like a partner is to give me a little more confidence to push that last rep or two that I'm worried about getting hurt on by myself...I've got no desire to get pinned under the damn bar!

Hey Bro,

I always train alone, have been doing it for years.

Everyones body reacts different to training, diet etc. If you are training with someone and then you may have to compromise what works for you to accomendate your partner.

I think if someone can not train alone and be motivated and then they should re-think what it is that he wants from the sport.
