(If nothing else, your eyes will be opened, you'll learn a bit of empathy, and you'll gain some valuable life experience). Above all else, you'll come away with a healthy respect for the job these brave men and women do, for NO MONEY and NO OUTSIDE REWARD OR APPRECIATION.

I saw first-hand the slow deterioration of human beings that the job causes. I got the fuck out before I COULDN'T AFFORD TO GET OUT. (Many officers have too much time in, and feel they are stuck and "can't do anything else"). I've never had that mentality, and got into med school. Because I'm fucking smart and motivated.

Far be it for YOU to decide what's best for police officers and what their options are. You aren't capable of filling their shoes.
