My kids say pop, I call it by the name because I have been all over and got sick of saying what the locals called it. Mostly I call the carbonated beverage I drink, beer. Why is 'pop' so wrong?

its called soda. i only said coke cause thats the only one i drank. i also like seltzer but it seems its usually called club soda. my friends thought it was funny that i bought it to drink and not do clean my clothes with. its good.

..actually, down south, all carbonated drinks are refered to as "Coke", and then you just say what kinda "Coke" you want. In fast food joints that is.

waitress: "and what kinda Coke would ya'll like today?"
me: "I'll take a Peach Nehi..thanks"

Yes, Up here in Wisconsin, we call it pop!! Maybe because it is a 1 syllable word? You know, simple minds....

When I lived in DC, however, I got used to calling "it" by name, ususally, in that case being "Diet Coke".
