I can't speak for Europe and while I don't think the pregnancy are "unwanted" but for the most part they are "unplanned" where either people marry to do "the right thing" which usually leads to premature marriage or marriage to the wrong person and either therapy or divorce.

You can even just take a look at this board at the record number of premarital accidental pregnancies, some get married some don't and many of those that get married have gottened divorced.

Just an observation.

I sometimes get the sense that people feel "forced" in marriage and "forced" into divorce. My friend's family is a great stat for this. When we talk, I kindly remind him that its all choice and consequence. He, after giving me the finger, tells me about how it "HAS" to be like whatever way it turned out...like its fate or something.

So, whenever I see something like what you posted, I think...no...its choice.

So basically- yes you think a lot of marriage is caused by unwanted or "unplanned" (same thing) pregnancy.

I think you overestimate that deal, or there is somehow a big difference over the ocean. It´s possible that there is. The USA is more religious, and religion tends to bring lots of sexual ignorance and irrationality to populations.

Careless, yes.

Selfish? I'm not sure about that. I know some people who did the "right" thing and gave up the child because they knew that they couldn't take care of it. Not a day goes by where they aren't haunted by the decision, but it was one of the best one they made.
