Do gamers prefer CRT to LCD?

I was thinking about running out to get a flat screen, but decided to check out what the internet said before spending the $$. After I found this, now I'm reconsidering:

I don't have a space issue, I was just thinking an LCD would give better picture, or assuming, actually. Then I read that.

Anyone have opinions regarding this?

An LCD gives a much better picture and takes up far less space. The only reason us gamers stick to CRTs is cause of the refresh rate. Most LCDs have an effect called ghosting when playing an intense graphical game. This effect can mean life and death in a major match or so. But if your jsut a casual gamer totally go with a LCD, I am almost at the point of getting rid of my 21" CRT for a flatpanel just cause of space issues. Also a LCD is far easier on the eyes, I am a programmer and by late night my eyes want to kill me .....

I agree wit basic wonder said in that lcds tend to have a ghosting effect in times of heavy battle, which is why i sold my lcd and got me a 42" crt. But the lcd definately has a clearer sharper picture. so it comes down to if you are a hardcore gamer that cares little about graphics go 4 crt, or are you a casual gamer that just likes to play a graphically pretty game go for lcd.

LCDs require a native resolution to work well, so if your LCD panel is 1600x1200 you'll have to keep upgrading your graphics card to keep up with running new games in 1600x1200. LCDs have terrible black levels due to the backlight which also washes out whites aka "white crush" not to mention ghosting.

CRT is still far superior to LCD, I would still buy LCD for a computer just b/c the screens are so small its not that big of a hinderance but for a TV that I watched movies and played consoles on I would NEVER buy a LCD, DLP or CRT thanks.

I perfer consoles so I can use my 57" projection tv.

PC games look great on my 19" LCD as opposed to a CRT. However you can buy a much bigger CRT for cheap nowadays.

I used to be an LCD nay-sayer. That was before I purchased a 2405. I could not go back to one of those fishbowl anchor weight room heaters otherwise known as CRTs.

Many older games, like Diable 2, don't run at what is probably the native res of your LCD, so they look like shit. I still use LCD though, just pray your game supports 'window mode' and your ok.

fuck LCD, only good for 7 years at best. Plus you gotta deal with picture fixation. I love the good ol projection HD JVC widescreens. I swear to god, my picture on my tv is of LCD quality, but it wont dry out in 7 years

What type of projection is it? DLP, LCD, CRT, Projector, etc ????

Also if you are speaking of PC gaming, then CRT is preferred by gamers simply because LCD doesn't have the refresh rate needed to play some fast action-packed games.
