DNP's criminal trial update
for those of you who are still interested in following the case of DNP_guru here's an update:
jury selection was yesterday (monday) in magistrate judge boyle's court room. the jurors selected looked to be mostly mid-upper class whites, an indian man, and a black man.
the charges against him were: 10 counts of misbranding a drug (DNP) and 10 counts of something that i couldn't really understand, but it sounds like mail fraud.
because each count is considered to be a separate crime, if he is found guilty the sentence can be consecutive, meaning that each on adds onto the other, so he can get 2 years for each count and get a total of 20 years in prison. i'm not sure how much maximum time each count carries, but once i find that out i'll post it up in this thread. hopefully it's not that much.
the trial date is set to start on july 1st at 10:30am in judge spatts court room on the 10th floor of the federal courthouse in central islip, NY (long island). if anyone is in the area and has any interest it might be worthwhile to watch the trial. i'm sure we could all learn a lot by watching this case. i'm pretty sure it's open to the public (i got in with no problems or questions asked). you just can't bring a camera or cell phones.
