Diet Coke and cutting?

excellent, i've been wondering about this. i still drink plenty of water, but i started getting worried when my diet coke intake was like 3-4 a day. i will try to cut back but damn its hard. the weird thing is that i never really craved regular coke all that much, but when i got the cravings for something with flavor, diet coke hit the spot and has become sort of an addiction. i now look foward to drinking them, and it is often the first thing i think about when i wake up in the morning.

i dont feel quite so guilty after reading this thread, but i still hate the fact that something has me by the balls. all that carbonation has to be doing something bad to me.

some days i get sick of water.. is diet coke okay.. i drank some coke zero today and dang it tasted so good.. Is that stuff okay to drink i hope so..

I am a huge honest tea fan. The have a lot of varieties and never use any artifical ingredients. The peach tea is fantastic and only has 85 calories per 16 oz. bottle.

Might be able to kick the coke habit if you go that route.

As a treat when u need to kill a craving, go for it. I'm a diet mountain dew guy myself. hehe.

I couldn't agree more, especially at night before or after dinner. That is when I get the worst cravings. The sweet flavor usually does it for me. If you're getting at least 1-1.5 gallons of water in a day I say go for it.

i can't stand disgusting acid water. i like the corn syrup taste of coke. if you're going to drink coke, have at least the taste. coke zero is a nice compromise. zero calories AND taste.

There are numerous studies that prove ZERO insulin spikes with atificial sweetners...And if you want to proove it to your self, drink a liter of coke one day, and a liter of diet coke the next, the regular coke will make you puke, several blind studies prove the theory that artificial sweetners cause insulin activity is false
The only thing that concerns me about diet drinks is that they have been linked to increased risk of metabolic syndrome. 34% higher chance of developing metabolic syndrome if you drink at least one diet drink daily.

Clearly there are other things at play here besides just insulin. Of course, metabolic syndrome is more than just insulin resistance, it's also obesity, high cholesterol/low LDL, and hypertension, which could mean that people drinking diet drinks might eat more and be more overweight (or they could be drinking diet drinks because they are overweight). However, this study took those effects into account when calculating the increased risk.
