I love lifting weights...sometimes i think the whole show thing is stupid...they alll look like fuckin animals..but really...if you could take dexters physique and add about 40 lbs so he was the size as Jay and Ronnie...then Dexter would blow them out of the water...I too am a V Martinez fan...he is pretty amazing

Correct. His look on the stage was good enough to win (arguably) but his pre judging was off. Ronnie had a lat and tricep issue on his left side as well that he admits now he has been in rehab for. I wouldn't bet against him this year if he's healthy. His best is much better than what Cutler can bring
I agree with a healthy Colman...man....what can you say? I really like Victor's physique but I do not think the time is right for him yet. I did say to my woman the other day Victor will win the O someday. I am glad Jay won, I like him as a person, very nice guy every time I have met him. I think he deserved it this year...next...I do not know. A lot of good boys in the hunt now.

I think tey should bring back weight classes. That way you can have your Light, Middle and heayweight world champions. Then they could compete to be the best overall. That way you have more stars and more wineners and more champions to model yourself on. I mean say like Shawn Ray and Labrada. They should have been world champs in their time. Someone their size shouldn't be compared to Coleman. It doesn't make them not as good. I have a picture of Shawn and he is truly amazing in it. Take Dave Henry for example too, he should be competing against Priest and those type of guys and leave Coleman and other monsters to their category.

So many other professional sports have divisions, boxing, wrestling, UFC, Muay Thai. Sugar Ray Leonard wouldn't beet Mike Tyson in his prime but that doesn't make Mike a better boxer than Sugar or does it make Sugar any less of a World Champion than Tyson.

Something to think about...

I for one am sick of Ronnie. The dude thought he could show up in any condition and take the sandow and I am glad he didn't. I don't care who wins this year but I think ronnie's time has passed.

There should probably be weight classes in there. Here's my problem with the way it is now. I don't want to turn on the tv, or pay money for that matter, to see a guy 20 pounds less than me on stage. Sure they all have bomb ass physiques. But if I'm 245 at 12%, I don't want to see a guy on stage who is the same size as me if I were in contest shape. That's why I like Coleman, because he's something we can't be, no matter what we put into it

They are changing it but it takes time. Tony Freeman winning 2 pro shows right off the bat and Victor getting 3rd along with the Arnold is a sign of things to come. Not to mention Heath winning big time right out the gate. They want to get rid of the freaks the way they want to get rid of women's bbing. Look at the placing of guys like Gustavo, Branch, Markus and others compared to last year. Then look at guys like Heath, Freeman, Victor, Dexter (even if he did drop, he did to someone who has an even more comic book looking physique than him. Although Vic better slow down or else he will end up in the same boat as a Ronnie or Jay), Darrem and Melvin. Even old as balls Vince Taylor is able to get into the top 10 at a regular pro show. If this was 99-03 that *never* would have happened. He wouldn't have even placed. Basically the freaks are getting fcked no matter how hard they are or how big they show up. The O is basically the last show to award the freakness and I think letting Jay have it was their way of not shocking everyone with the transition. Next it will be Victor. Then comes the true era of the x frame or rather the ecto with extreme mass and the ecto/meso blends.

The freaks are dead and David Pecker couldn't be happier. He is trying to make some money off this sport he bought. He had no idea how unpopular and unmainstream it was until he was knee deep in it. At first I thought he was like the devil to bodybuilding and would kill it but now I see he is the saving grace.

Did Jay deserve to win? No. He was used as nothing more than a transition phase to the new era. Will Ronnie win a 9th? It depends on how bad the judges and David Pecker feel bad for him and if he is willing to play ball one last year and do all the shit Weider used to make you do (btw Weider no longer controls bodybuilding. I don't know why people think that. The man wasn't even allowed to come on stage and hand out Medals and say goodbye at the 05 O (it could have been the 04, not sure. I will look it up). It is David Peckers show now. He wants this sport to be mainstream the way it was in the 80's. He want's payperview money and mainstream contracts/deals. If he keeps going the way he is, it will happen. Fitness is enjoying a return. It's actually 'in' to be fit. People do look up to these guys as role models but not a Ronnie or Branch. The average person would never want to look like that. And maybe they would never want to look like a Dexter either but at least it's a physique they can admire and look up to. Sort of how it was with Arnold, Haney, etc. You may not have wanted to be as big as them but they inspired you to get in the gym and get going.
Great post. What you say seems quite true, and if it is, I think it may generally be for the benefit of bodybuilding as a sport. It's a shame, though, that pro bodybuilders aren't paid much more than they are.

no,the only reason why he got there is cause he wined like a little girl

I've never heard Jay whine about anything ever, and I see him in the gym several times a year. Actually he's not much of a conversationalist. I wish there where more like him in the gym.
Yes, I think Jay is a worthy champion! I expect him to roll off a string of 10 consecutive Mr. O championships. He's got the size, conditioning, youthfullness, training style that's unlikely to cause major injuries, and magazine good looks.
I don't believe there is overt racism in the IFBB, but there is marketability racism. Who's going to sell more supplements and magazines, Jay Cutler or Ronnie Coleman? The number one consumers of supplements and bodybuilding magazines are white males ages 15 - 25, who are they going to want to emulate more? These factors are why Jay is going to be the man to beat for a long time.
Now if the question is who would you most like to have as a training partner? My answer is Big Ronnie, Yeah Buddy! Nothing but a peanut! Light weight, light weight! And my personal favorite; "Everyone wants to be a bodybuilder, but no one wants to lift no heavy assed weight!"

if your 245 at 12% by the time you diet down to 4% you will prob weigh in around 210-215 after losing the fat, water and some muscle.

you dont have to worry about turning on the tv and seeing anyone being 20lbs lighter then your contest weight onstage at the mrO
all of them are BIGGER then you in contest shape.

Unless lee priest shows up then you guys will be about the same weight
then you can shut the tv off.

no offense, its reality
