Whats the deal with dextrose? I hear many people say they take it pre-workout...whats it do? Energy?
Different things work for different people. Whatever you need to do to train harder, keep doing it. I was just saying that if you were to drink something with dextrose in it preworkout, that energy would probably go away quickly. If you're drinking something slowly throughout your workout, it'll probably be ok.Iwan2bsolid2 said:So are you guys saying that there is no need to take it preworkout to give you added energy stores to fuel you through and intense workout? Sometimes on Leg day I would drink a Ultrafuel carboforce to help me sustain energy throughout my workout, then drink another postworkout to replenish lost glycogen. I find that I can train with much more intensity that way?

FitnessFrk said:all of the latest performance studys show the best results with creatine supplementation are show when:
1/2 (5 grams) before training and 1/2 afterwards - here if you are eating properly you should have eaten 1-1.5 hours prior to the training session. so your stomach would be virtually empty. if you were to take creatine with water prior to training it would be delivered to skeletal muscle to give that extra energy boost at the cellular level during resistance training.
HOW DOES THE CREATINE GIVE AN EXTRA ENERGY BOOST? WHY NOT ADD A MINIMAL AMOUNT OF DEXTROSE TO PREWORKOUT CREATINE, SAY 10GMS - THAT WONT BE ENOUGH TO CAUSE A INSULIN SPIKE?
1 serving (10 grams) post workout taken with high GI/GR sugars- this is the best method as the creatine will be delievered to skeletal muscle with the push provided from the insulin spike. Not only will creatine stores be replenished but creatine aids in the storage and production of ATP which is the bilogical energy source for all anabolic and catabolic funcitions in the body.
YES.
if a high GI/GR carbs is consumed immediately before training the onset of physical activity will surpress the insulin spike. but you are still training your body to use glycogen as it's primary energy source during weight training. if the high GI/GR carb is consumed with enough time to allow insulin to spike (say 20 minutes) the attempt to spike insulin again after training that spike will be much less, when it is the most usefull. [/QUOTE
NOT CONSUMED IMMEDIATELY PRIOR TO TRAINING> DURING TRAINING - SIPPING ON A CARB DRINK THROUGHOUT YOUR WORKOUT- THAT WAY LARGE AMOUNTS ARE NOT INGESTED ALL AT ONCE- THEREFORE PREVENTING AN INSULIN SPIKE.
