hey guys i gotta question.

there is conventional deadlift, sumo, and straight leg.

i know the difference in these for i have done them all for a few years now.

but everybody always talks about the differnce that deadlifts add to the strenght and size of your back. With that in mind, is there any problem with me just doing Straight leg deads as compared to do those plus sumo or conv???.

my back is growing, and im very happy with it. I just hate to think i am slacking or missing out on a chance to grow. I go heavy on st leg deads, as heavy as i can on reg dead.

so just for the area on the body thats behind you, not including arms, and legs, is straight leg not working me as good as another deadlift might?

thanks for you advice

now its not fair, somebody should say something?

Exodus,

Sounds like things are working good for you. If you are making significant gains, then I see no need to change your routine. Stiff leg deadlifts are excellent for building the back and hamstrings. With the conventional deadlift, you are using more leg strength. I have always had the greatest success using deadlifts off the rack. The key is to experiment and figure out what works best for you. You are certainly not slacking. . .stiff legs are difficult to execute, plus they are a heavy strenuous movement.

Yea.. I just started doing these recently... holy shit.. do they ever rape your back.... BIG TIME... I have a hard time supporting my body for the rest of my workout after doing these as my erectors are just cooked... You can lift significantly more weight when doing em off the rack, so your back REALLY gets it..

thanks, i didnt logically figure there would be difference, i just like to hear someone agree with me or at least give me a green light.

You know I'm not going to agree with you man!!! :) :)

Long time to talk....;)

Why not do your FAVORITE one of the 3 every week then do a drop off set of one or the other that is left? What can it hurt???

I like conventional deads personally but add in some light sumo's every once in a while.

I'm a fan of both sumo and straight leg. I do the SDLs on leg day and sumo on back. I like the sumo better than conventional because I'm a decently tall fellow and I find it easier on my back. The important thing is your deadlifting:D

thanks crew.

bump for bfold.
