Deadlift

2nd week doing deadlifts. Holy SH*T its like doing areobics. My whole body hurts. Today is supposed to be leg day but I am gonna have to take a day off.

Question fro you deadlift guys. I had to stop after the 3rd set yesterday because I kept catching my nutz with the bar. I made it past the knees. Am I doing something wrong.

i love deadlifts... i dont mind the cuts i get, i usually only get them on heavy deadlifts though around my max (335), then the blood starts to flow.

i dont really get many stares though, as the deadlift and squat are some of the most popular lifts in my gym, so its an everyday thing to see someone deadlift

Triggerfinger, ouch that hurts...

Are you making sure you are standing up before locking the bar out toward your body??? On my self the only way I could hit the jewels is to bend back before my legs were fully extended. Check your form one more time and see if you are getting it down right.

To me, raw knees and shins were just a part of deadlifting. I was originally taught to keep the bar as close to my body as possible to keep your center of gravity close, dargging 500lbs up and down your legs definitely lets you know you're alive.

Kinda funny story, a few years ago, a guy I trained with and myself were in the change room comparing injuries; I had just hit a 550 dead, and he had buried a 805lb squat. My shins were bleeding openly and he had burst a ton of blood vessels in his upper chest. A couple of teenagers walked into the changeroom, took one look at the 2 of us, and walked right back out.

It's all about being hardcore!!!

need more work on form

Gonna lower the weight and work on form. I think that I am locking the bar too soon...

thanks

Deadlift Form

I still can't seem to get this deadlift form down..

The gym I use is my work gym so there is no one there, NO ONE, there that does dead lifts or probably even knows how.

I can do them at home, I have the olympic bar and weights there..even a mirror the check my form, but I always feel like my back in rounded.. or i am pulling up with me back before me legs are extended enough.. I dunno..

It does KILL my lower back though, is that the point? That seems to be the only place I feel it..

Oh and I am doing 95lbs only... trying to keep it light so I can get the form.. but it still hurts.

triggerfinger: something to think about...relax your arms. Let your shoulders sag as low as you can on these. Just ONLY tighten your grip...not your shoulders, traps or arms. Let them just hang. This should allow the bar to be lower on your body when you are totally locked out...hence not hitting your nuts.

i believe u should just deadlift regularly but if ur that worried about scraping ur shins, then use a trap bar, u kno the one like a hexagon, stand inside it and pull, that simple
