Damn, searching check in luggage!

In all my years of flying have never had my check thru luggage gone thru. No worries going to but man, whats going to happen when coming back from say cancun? Anyone yet had to deal with this yet?

yes in cozmel it happened to me. they are strict. good thing i had my gear in a perscription bottle with a current date and my name. it was only, clomid i got it in the markets pharmacie.

took for ever to search everyones stuff but we finally boarded the plane.

yep from now on the US is going to be just as strict if not more so than other countries. They used to do that in Puerto Rico and it pissed me off like crazy!!! To us it may be a huge fuck over, but just think if we catch someone trying to plant another bomb or something. I think you'll believe the search to be worth it then.

If they are specifically only searching for bombs that can be timered or altitude detonated, do they have the right to confiscate anything else they find in violation with regard to controlled substances? Or are we all going to go thru the duck tape body hair removal process in the future?

I have been on 8 flights since September 11th and have had my bag searched 6 times. I would be VERY CAREFUL these days. You might be better off mailing things. It seems that they target single guys in their 20's.

I really wish there was anothe solution to all this. I hope not to offend any one here at all, but my view is that we should make our immigration laws much more strict. We're one of the easiest countries to get in/out from. It's quite rediculous.

Im assuming that there is a percent of travelers that dont get their luggage ransacked based on a domestic husband wife on vacation profile. jUST GUESSING. I look so damed bored and uninterested at the check in that Im never singled out for a random search. My honeymoon was a westertn carribean cruise
2 weeks after 9-11. At debarkation they asked only for pp and said go find your bags which we did and had a taxi to the hotel in less than 5 minutes. Funny thing is though, that while at Ocho Rios Jamaica, they were searching everyone prior to re boarding the liner.

Hay have you ever flown to England !! Thats easy walked right through with about 3000 cigs in a see through bag once!

Any way i'm going to San deago (sp) in March aand was planning on taken some clen with me was going to put it in my check in bag ? Would this be OK is it leagal out there ?

I didn't fully understand your query. Are you talking about the checked-luggage revision on the Mexican side? If so, then maybe I can help.

Now, there are inspection stations in almost every Mexican international airport. (I think the country is trying to comply with the FAA rule regarding bomb prevention. The country can't afford to install the high-tech x-ray machines.) Rent-a-cops wearing gloves do the search.

There are display cases featuring examples of all prohibited items. Bombs, guns, ammo -- of course. Then, pressurized stuff in cans. Pesticides, etc.

The search doesn't concern medicines or prescriptions. You should be safe on the south side of the border. X-ray machines in the states are not used to detect meds, either. The Feds/Customs are the ones to give you trouble.

Anyway, on my return flight the National Guard had me open my luggage before I checked it..

Guys the security check is only for bombs and other dangerous stuff. They could care less what drugs you have. It's customs that you have to worry about after your trip.

Thats just it, do they secretly flag you to customs? Once they know whats gone on the plane whats the point after you get to uSA TO OPEN THEM AGAIN?
