Daisy, don't let it scare you!!! IMO, Delivery was the EASIEST part (in the general scheme of things). Really, I wouldn't lie to you. Start practicing Kegels, if you haven't been. Took me 20 minutes total to deliver my son, and he was just shy of 9 lbs -- I did it totally natural, no drugs, no shots. You forget, their little heads ... well, squish. The bones of the skull overlap in the birth canal.Daisy_Girl said:No - she HAS to stay put for 3 more weeks.
Had childbirth class today (and again next Sat) ... it was interesting (to say the least). They had a doll that was the average size/weight of a newborn... no fricken way is that head coming out of me, lol. I changed my mind, no baby for me.
It only further solidified my desire for drugs.
The fear makes things MUCH worse. Hey, you got a lot of moms on this board who've been down the road before you, ask questions!!! God knows I have a big mouth and absolutely NO sense of shame about expressing my point of view on anything IMO, the more informed you are the less likely you will be taken by surprise or scared. I'll NEVER forget when I went into labor (which for the first 4 or so hours were like menstrual cramps and I kind of ignored). Then things started getting more intense ... me, I'm looking them up in my copy of "what to expect when you're expecting." The line in the book read, "discomfort." Discomfort, it read DISCOMFORT. This was NOT discomfort. I know discomfort. This fell into the full blown category of OH SH*T ... well, of course, now I'm psychologically sh*tting myself because nobody ever said it HURT, they used euphamisms like uncomfortable or discomfort so of course I'm afraid something is really wrong. Long story short, my labor, all 17 hours of it, 5 of which were in transition, hurt and part of the hurt came from the fact that nobody told me it could potentially hurt, if that makes sense. The rest of the worst of the pain was because my back is terribly messed up, and I doubt if you have the back problems I do. My back was killing me. The stuff going on in my uterus was not pleasant, but it definitely played second fiddle to my back pain (funny how one pain can place a different perspective on another).Daisy_Girl said:All of it scares me. I think the lack of control is my issue. I pretty much can't control much of it, which is troublesome.
I had another OB appt today. Things are looking good. I had an ultrasound, and she is measuring about 6lbs14oz (almost 7bs) and there are still 2 more weeks! I think we are going to have an 8 pounder.
Good news .... I lost a pound ... which means my total weight gain is 27lbs now. And with HER gaining weight, it is likely that *I* am not gaining anything right now.
*whew* Although getting "back to normal" is STILL going to be hard, I am sure. But it will help that I have not gained a ton of weight.
I agree my second was totally natural, no drugs or gas. The labour was 8hrs and that was the hardest part, but the actual delivery was something you can't describe only to say that it the most incredible experience. Yes I also was on such an adreniline high for about 5 hrs after delivery and you feel on top of the world. Unfortunately I didn't experience that with my first or my third as my first was a 72hrs labour and I had pethadine, gas, and an epidural and didn't get the chance to feel the baby enter the world. My third was a cesarian so again I missed out, and I cried my eyes out.MuscleMom said:Daisy, don't let it scare you!!! IMO, Delivery was the EASIEST part (in the general scheme of things). The labor, that blew. But I had a long, slow back labor.
What's neat about going drug free is you're bursting with energy afterwards, very up, happy, bouncing off the walls. The baby was sleeping his first in the open air and I was bored and wandering around the hospital trying to find somebody to talk with
