Daily Caloried Intake?

Got to ask - but I seem to as I think under eat. I'm not little I have a fair amount of muscle but I'm not huge (more the size of a fitness competitor). How many calories should I be eating? What the hell do most of you others eat? 4 - 6 meals a day????
I've been sick but before that I was trying to cut my bf with no success at all - I added more cardio cleaned up the eating and nothing - I seem to be stuck in a rut. What do you do when you're stuck in a rut?
Please help me out - thanks
 
MY diet

This is what I'm eating at the moment




1/3c oats (porridge)
apple
protein powder (15-20g)
Sprinkle of raisins or sultanas

Chicken or tuna and veges

Myoplex lite/ piece fruit

Chicken or fish veges or salad

Yeah that's it roughly - sometime I have a little bit more not a lot though - I'm not trying to bulk up just cut the body fat down and keep it down. I'm injured os I don't do as much weight training as I use to but I dod do atleast 5 good cardio sessions a week anywhere from 1 hour to 1 and half hours long. Plus some weight 2-3 times but not very heavy.
 
Hmm, looks as though you eat healthy....what about red meats, do you eat any of those?

Also, while answering questions, how tall are you and what is your weight? What are your portion sizes for the foods you eat and what is the total calorie count for a typical day?

Yeah I try to keep the serving sizes down on the veges and salads - like 1-2 cups, as for meat/chicken etc I usually have around 160-180g per serve. I'm 5 ft 3 and weigh about 64kg (140lbs). I use to site around 13% quite happily but I'd say I'm around 17% now. I don't even want to know what it is - I know it's high, my clothes don't fit anymore. (they fit but they're to tight).
Do yo think a odd frappa here and there would make a huge difference!?????

PS Total calories - would be somewhere between 1300-1800 cals a day.
 
Goodness, you do tend to undereat sometimes don't you. Unless you are cycling your calories in a planned method, the up and down of calories may be making your body go into fat conservation mode.

No, I don't think that an occasional (once every 10 days, or so) frappe will hurt your diet. I do think that the raisins and sultanas are a poor choice of fruits though. Grapes/raisins/plums/prunes/dates are all high GI fruits, that is, generally they will cause spikes in blood sugars and insulin. The small apple per day is good, as are strawberrys, blueberrys, raspberrys, red/black/boysenberries, kiwi, etc. The low sugar, high fibre fruits are better.

What is your fat intake like? In my experience, no fat diets will actually MAKE you fatter! Flax and borrage oils are EXCELLENT supplements, while extra-virgin olive and canola oils are good for food prep. Just try not to eat fats and carbos at the same time. Supposedly this will cause a high percentage of calories to be stored as fat.

Your protein intake looks good, but do you ever eat salmon or other high oil fish? The omega 3 oils found in salmon have been touted as potential catylists for 'burning fat.'

Yeah I know the dried fruit is a bad choice which is why I don't have much of it - I usually do my cardio in the morning befor breakfast and wait for an hour before I have the porridge with the little amount of dried fruit in it. Also if I mix protein etc with it - it should bring the GI down.
As for fats - I may need to add I guess - I've got some EAS EFAs so I guess I should add those back in - how much though 1 or 2 a day?
Why are frappas sooooooo bad - they are only coffee/milk and sugar! I don't have the cream on top or added syrup flavourings! Does anyone know how many calories are in a Starbucks frappa - plan one no cream and a vente size (large of course!)
